Hey, we won the second half 20-7. I guess better that we got blown out early and the rest of the game let UCF hold on than to go up a 20-7 lead and then blow it.

Sigh. This was brutal. Not sure why I forced myself through that.

The game was never competitive. Truly dispiriting loss.

No silver lining.

Sigh.

Not true. Maybe Adebo and Parkinson come back.

Better than last week.

Will be out of town for Oregongame. Glad I sold my tickets before the last 2 beat downs.

And Parkinson, and Adebo.

If there is a silver lining, it’s that it decreases the chances that some players go pro.

BC

Agreed. Fehoko has zero NFL chance AFAIC.

Maybe we don't want Adebo back.

Turtle.

So, we gave up 90 points in 2 games. Time for a major overhaul?

I mean, sure. But we got taken out to the woodshed by UCF, a week after USC took us out to the woodshed. I’m thinking the problems run a lot deeper than Shaw’s game-day strategy.

Always wondered what it would look like if the other coach turtled...

We don’t have bodies to overhaul the defense with. Like, we literally have no more inside linebackers.

What happened to those cardinal colored glasses. . . .

How about a stretch of a little bit over 4 quarters where we were outscored 80-10?

Yeah, we suck and I was wrong to hope that we would have a good team this year. Feel better?

Just for grins, I looked up the most points given up by Stanford in a season. I was a little bit surprised, it was Bill Walsh's second team, the 1993 4-7 team, which gave up 389 points. The '93 Stanford team had gone 10-3 the prior season and opened at #15 in the polls. In 1993, Stanford's defense had given up 96 points in the first three games of the season (14-31 at Washington, 31-28 vs. SJSU and 41-37 vs. #7 Colorado).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_Stanford_Cardinal_football_team

Stanford's given up 97 points so far this year.

Another oddball bit of trivia. David Shaw's coached eight complete seasons at Stanford, Harbaugh had four. Teevens' best defense was his last year, giving up just 233 points. Shaw and Harbaugh together beat that season's defense only two seasons among their twelve seasons coaching Stanford football.

Final bit of odd trivia: Shaw's best defense came in his worst record year, so far. 213 points given up in his 8-5 season, 2014.

So, this may be a record breaking year!

Here's hopin'...

I still think we'll finish 6-6.

Sinclair looked okay late, but he is still very light for an ILB. I also liked how the FR DBs looked late, including McGill's scoop and score. given our starting safeties play the past couple of years, may as well turn it over to the youngsters. they can figure out how to line up later.

I also liked Austin Jones; play and how the players kept working til the end. I'm not sure if I can say the same for the coaches.
the 3rd and 12 wildcat call seemed to be Shah's "no mas" towel moment as playcaller.

I think the biggest revelation from this game is simply how bad and unathletic Northwestern was.

+1. Hunter Johnson had below 50% completion, 6.6 ypa, 1 td and 1 int against freaking UNLV today. Former 5* bust.

On the flip side, Northwestern 30, UNLV 14. 276 yards rushing.
