Bobbbbb, you have the five guys. Now what high schools?
Lex, it’s McDougald. Commerce HS on Van Ness. Closed down and became the SFUSD HQ. The football field became a sunken parking lot. I remember attending an SI-Commerce game when my uncle was the SI head coach. Now that property has become Davies Symphony Hall.

Yes, Jerry Coleman attended Lowell. My son and his teammates wore black “JC” patches on their Lowell baseball jersey sleeves in honor of the late alum.

Andy Carey, Alameda High. Silvera, who died last year went to SI. He had thousands of his own scouting cards in a file in his bedroom in Burlingame. When I asked him if he had one on me he said, "Yeah, but we would never draft you." He then laughed out loud.

Three of the 1927 Yankees’ fabled “Murderers Row” hitters were born in the SF Bay Area. A fourth was a starting pitcher who was Babe Ruth’s roommate.
Name the four players.
Incidentally, the fourth player pitched for SI, and nearly beat the 1913 Chicago White Sox in an exhibition. Took a 2-1 lead into the 9th inning until Buck Weaver hit an HR to win it.

I think maybe Ray Schalk of the Chisox. The one guy who really got pissed at the cheaters. Eddie Collins was much less vociferous.

Mark Koenig (born SF, Lowell HS), Tony Lazzeri (born SF, Galileo hS) and Bob Meusel (born in San Jose, went to Manual Arts HS in LA). Lazzeri & Koenig were 22 and 23 in the 1927 season, and knew each other in SF, though both dropped out of HS. Koenig had a terrible glove and led the league with 47 errors. But he had a cannon for an arm and had the most range in the AL, finishing third in assists. Bob was a power-hitting left fielder, who had led the league in HRs and RBIs two years earlier, and was second on the Yanks with 47 doubles that season.
The pitcher was Walter Henry "Dutch" Ruether, born in SF, and attended St. Ignatius HS. He was a decade older than Lazzeri and Koenig, and 1927 would be his last year in MLB, even though he went 13-6 as a starter (he pitched six more years in the PCL). The Yanks were ahead of the game, they used five primary starters including Waite Hoyt (22-7), Herb Pennock (19-8), Urban Shocker (18-6), Reuther (13-6) and George Pipgras (10-3). Wilcy Moore and Myles Thomas started 21 games between them as well.
Ruether was an interesting guy. Terrific hitter for a pitcher, hit .258 with .314 career OBP and .649 career OPS. He hit a pinch-hit triple against Ed Cicotte in the famous 1919 Black Sox WS opener (minor side note, even though the White Sox were favored, the Reds won more games in the regular season, 96 to 88). Ruether was Babe Ruth's roommate, and shares a record with Ruth and Cy Young...they were the only pitchers to ever triple in a WS game (Reuther hit two triples). Reuther, like Ruth, liked to party hard and when the Yankees released him after the 1927 season, he had no offers from any other major league club, though he was 13-6 that season.
He joined the San Francisco Seals and went 29-7 in 1928. That was an amazing team, with 16 former and future major league players on it (Reuther, Earl Averill, Smead Jolley, Roy Johnson, Sloppy Thurston, Frankie Crosetti, Joe Sprinz, Gus Suhr, Babe Pinelli, Ping Bodie, Ike Caveney, Frank Welch, Hal Rhyne, Elmer Jacobs, Duster Mails and Buckshot May).
SI's coach was a former long-time American league umpire who thought Ruether had too hard a head to play pro baseball. And Reuther became a scout for the Cubs and Giants. He scouted Mike McCormick and Ed Bressoud, among others.
