I have seen some support for Joe West for the Hall of Fame, he could show up on a committee ballot at some point.
He will get in the HOF. Most games umped. And the only PEDs he took involved large amounts of food…..

Meanwhile, on the subject of PEDs, the lockout means that the Joint Drug Agreement has been terminated, so players are free to load up on PEDs as long as they are out of their systems by the time a new CBA is in place and testing resumes.

Hey Mick, in general, how has the DH affected pitching stats? Intuitively it would seem that ERAs, for one, would be higher.
You can't just compare raw AL and NL run scoring statistics because of the different parks, but in general the delta from having a DH is understood to be between 0.1 and 0.2 runs per team per game. Last five seasons the overall ERA in the AL (going backwards) was 4.32, 4.42, 4.60, 4.27 and 4.37 and in the NL was 4.20, 4.47, 4.38, 4.02 and 4.34, i.e. deltas of 0.08, 0.13, 0.22, 0.20 and 0.03.

Hmmm. It would seem a better comparison might be just within the AL, pre-DH vs with DH. Or maybe not -- as the lowering of the mound is probably in there, along with the so-called "livelier ball."

As well as different parks being built, changes in dimensions and wall heights to existing parks, expansion, changes to the strike zone, use of performance enhancers which affects both pitchers and hitters, introduction of defensive shifts, etc. The DH was introduced 39 years ago and the game has undergone dramatic changes resulting in a much different run environment aside from the introduction of the DH itself.
You can simply compare aggregate hitting by pitchers and by batters in the DH spot and then extrapolate the run scoring effect using linear weights, which is why 0.1-0.2 runs per team per game is the currently accepted baseline. It may not sound like much but it's significant.
