For those who want to know Montgomery # 5 overall. He has 22 HRs
I suspect the 4 HRs wouldn't really make much of a difference. Moore isn't having a particularly good year, certainly not at a #21 in the draft level.* Clearly that kind of draft projection has much more to do with what he has done in the past and what scouts are projecting he could do. I personally suspect his swing is a little long to ever hit for a decent average in MLB, but that doesn't seem so critical these days.
* Moore's key stats are: BA .242; SLG .565; OPS .986; HR 12; stolen base attempts thrown out 15-46 (32.6%) .
Meanwhile Montgomery's very good season is slightly annoying, as is Texas AM at #1 in the country.
Montgomery BA .376; SLG .906; OPS 1.424; HR 22 (#3 in country)
[though note that the SEC is generally an offense oriented league]

Look at it this way. If Moore gets drafted fairly low, we might get him for another year.

D1Baseball has released their mock postseason field. They have Cal in as a number three seed in the region. Stanford is not there at all. This weekend series seems kind of important.

D1 Baseball and Kendall Rogers is garbage. He tweeted out about Cal because they swept OSU last weekend. He has never posted anything about Cal before that. He was saying how he picked Cal to finish as the conference champion before the season. They all picked OSU to win, yet it is U of A who is playing good ball these days. They all have that SEC bias, that is all they tweet about every week. I have not seen anything about how U of A is playing these days from Rogers. This is important series for this team. They may not go to Omaha this year, however, for this team to have some confidence for next year. Winning last week was big, but to put Cal below them is better for confidence going into the Pac tourney.

I am all to aware of the ECMB as well as the SECMB. Neverthelesx, this is a big series.
Question: is Cal pitcher Christian Becerra related to our guy?

After five innings, Stanford 12 Cal one. Christian Lim must think he’s gone to heaven. During the inning, Jimmy Nati had two home runs one two run homer and the other three run homer. Of his six RBIs in the game five were in the fifth inning. I’ll be posting a video of this hopefully by Monday. Believe me you’re gonna enjoy it.

Not to be outdone, Trevor Haskins just hit his second home run of the day.
No one out in the bottom of the eighth, runners on first and second, now 15 to 5 Stanford.

Holy cow, 6 RBI for Nati and 5 for Haskins, 2HRs apiece? Gotta watch the DVR later… but WOW!

Is this team making the post season this year?

Good question. My assumption is they would have to have a really gaudy record the rest of the way (which still might not be enough) or win the Pac-12 tournament.

Best chance: win the tournament. The team is improving, but still inconsistent. If they can keep getting better, they have a shot.

Stanford is 114th in RPI. There are not enough good (highly ranked) P12 teams that they could beat to help that ranking very much. Only 2 P12 teams in the top 50. I think it's win the tournament or bust.
