"I am thrilled to return to Stanford and work with Tara, Kate and Katy," commented Brown. "More than that, I am eager to work and develop the players, both on and off the court, and help continue the program's legacy of success."
This is a great step. I do wonder why she left in the first place. She is certainly a fan favorite, and you have to believe that she must be a player favorite too.

I recall that her partner had another career opportunity.
This is absolutely fabulous news. Tempie is great and I could not be happier to have her back - replacing Britney Anderson who was a disaster.

Why was Anderson a disaster? I have zero knowledge about her coaching so no opinion on her one way or the other. Just curious why you think so.

Haha, I didn't get that at first, then realized it relates to the new rule that caught my eye:
Quote:Players will be allowed to wear numbers 0-99
Besides testing the refs' ability to hand signal larger numbers, this rule also has impact on trivia buffs who look at all-time lists of who wore what number. Lots more number possibilities now!

Hopefully a real arena and not a hotel banquet room where some teams played last Thanksgiving.

I was told last April at the Banquet that it would be held in a 'real' arena but not @ T-Mobile. That would eliminate the South Point Hotel/Casino. Perhaps @ UNLV's Thomas & Mack but that would be strange if UNLV was not participating. Guess we'll just have to see.

Today's SF Chronicle has an article about Cameron's success in the 3x3 tournament. It includes comments from Tara and indicates that Cameron, Hannah, Kiki and Talana will be our starters.

That's only 4 starters -- so now the guessing can begin about who is the 5th??

if these 4 start, we are missing a 3 (wing), so i would think that brooke demetre might be the 5th.

As for the fifth starter, Brooke will probably be forced into our trontcourt rotation due to the lack of other alternatives, which means Elena is likely our fifth starter. I’m guessing we will also use Brooke on the perimeter, but we are so thin up front that we need her to flex big every game. We haven’t discussed it here yet, but I believe Kiki has been experiencing more foul trouble even than Cam did as a frosh, so even in just a relief role, Brooke could easily log 25 minutes per game if we only have three bigs. Assuming Cam gets 30 minutes, Kiki and Brooke could end up splitting 50 minutes roughly equally on the interior.
OTOH, Elena has the potential to be more of a do everything type of player, slashing to the basket, draining threes, rebounding, being disruptive on defense, etc. Let’s hope more time on the court translates into more confidence, as she clearly has the tools.

I agree. I think Demetre will be the first “big” off the bench and will spend most of her playing time at the 4. She doesn’t have great lateral quickness and so is a better PF defender vs wing defender. Plus she is a very good post entry passer and good 3-point shooter. Defenders will have to defend her to the 3-point line which should create a lot of 1-1 opportunities for Brink and Iriafen in the post.
