That’s great news. I’m very optimistic on our chances. I’m curious if she’ll wait until the fall to finish her visits or travel to Stanford this summer.
We know her parents LOVE Stanford and follow our program closely. We also have a history of some Aussies in our program including currently Tess Heal. I don’t know that either Duke nor Uconn have ever had an Australian player before. Regardless she would be a great recruiting addition to an already great 2025 class for us.

Somfai plays the same position as UConn’s 2024 #1 Hoopgurlz recruit Sarah Strong. Not sure why she would want to be a back up bench player for 3 years.

yes, and more! stanford is 20 min from 2 international airports, whereas storrs is 2 hours from jfk and 1 hr 45 min from boston logan - and that's without the heavy traffic! sure, you can fly to hartford, but only with layovers.
no direct flights australia to raleigh-durham airport either.

Isn't Somfai playing in Florida though? So location doesn't really matter. Looking at the other finalists, Duke and UConn... I think education is important to her. So does she want the best of academics + basketball (Duke/Stanford) or does she want to go to a school that has proven to produce multiple WNBA players (yes, I know Stanford has a lot, but UConn honestly just blows all the other college schools away).
I also don't think location matters much, as her other two finalists are on the East Coast. I honestly though Kiki Rice was Stanford-bound... until she wasn't. I am not planning on getting my hopes up for Somfai, haha.

I'm enjoying following the discussion and have high hopes too, but . in the world of the transfer portal and NIL, signing someone as a freshman no longer means we can be sure we will keep them for for years. We'll have to keep "recruiting" them all the years they are here. It's part of the game now

Is she in the US on a student visa? I've read that they are very limited in what they can earn (Purdue 's Zach Eddy) from NIL so she may not jump as easily as others from the school she picks.

We are no longer a finalist for Jazzy Davidson. It seem her recruitment has been all over the place. We were her dream school at one point. She’s also eliminated LSU. I wonder if it’s admission related that we aren't even a finalist and didn’t get an official visit.

That is such a bummer yet not shocking given all the changes at and beyond Stanford in wcbb
But, Crittendon has always been highly regarded and apparently was playing at an even higher level this summer too. And if I recall she’s always been said to be a top notch student (aka at or near 4.0 IIRC). Bummer about Jazzy but might not be much of a drop off if we’re able to land Crittendon.

Bummer ... Jazzy is the one I wanted the most in this recruiting cycle. Seems too early to be eliminated, but that's the new world.

Seems like done, done... the most reliable non-insider "tell" for who Stanford is actively recruiting has been Instagram follows. No longer following Davidson. I'm actually shocked Stanford got cut. Bummer.
Only uncommitted follow at this point is Somfai. Wonder if Paye will make another (committable) offer? Holland Harris?

ESPN updated their individual rankings today. Eschmeyer had major jump and Hailey Swain now #10 in the class. Amborn also in top 100.

Thanks for the heads up. I've updated the ESPN rankings on our 2025 possibles and also fixed some spelling.
