Same. I doubt we make it to Oklahoma. Hope I'm wrong, but the teams with better pitching have a much better chance.

I agree in re the record - we get great press and I think it's good for the sport in general even if other teams now try to do the same. Also, this will be pretty memorable for the players and fans in attendance.
We still took 2 out of 3 and while a win might've bumped us up a notch or two in league standings (haven't checked how VA or Duke fared today), as d4cohn noted, we just don't have enough arms on the mound this year. The upcoming home series with VA (13-8 and just ahead of us in league standings) will be brobdingnagian, but we also need to take care of business with Boston College (5-13 league record) on the road.

Stanford got some help in the battle for a top 16 seed among the ACC contenders this weekend: VA Tech shockingly lost a series to lowly Pitt (the worst team in the conference), and Duke dropped Senior Day at home to woeful Notre Dame, and even Clemson lost at home today to a below .500 Boston College team.
I think we are a coin flip to get a regional host; I would say no if the season ended today, but a strong performance in the final 2 series plus crucially the ACC tournament will be key. We will probably have the most to play for at the ACC tourney in Massachusetts than any other team. Important to our chances is hopefully a re-match against Clemson at the conference tourney (which we would need to win).

It's stingers down for the Sacramento State Hornets. Stanford up 10-0 in the middle of the second inning.
Chung pitches the first inning and does fine. Coaching staff figures how much trouble can Prystajko get the team into so she comes in to pitch the second inning and gives up a home run. I overestimated what Prystajko would do as a college freshman.

Stanford's arguably best pitcher recently, Alyssa Houston, also had her struggles as a freshman. Perhaps an even more apt example from a position player is Emily Jones, who had a rough freshman year, and yet has emerged with a position change to CF in the last two seasons as arguably the best defensive CF in program history? (yes, that includes Mendoza and others).

Stanford beats Sac State 14-4. 15 hits in five innings for Stanford.
Jones has made some spectacular catches in recent games.
Also on the topic of player improvement, I've noticed all the upperclassmen have put on additional muscle mass in their biceps. They must be putting time in the weight room.

Stanford wins 4-3 on a Virginia error.

Virginia really gave this game away with 3 errors, leading to 3 unearned runs out of 4 for the Cardinal. Keeps us in the hunt for a top 16 seed.

Stanford keeps its hopes of a top 16 seed alive by winning the game and series on Senior Day in a tight 2-0 contest against Virginia. Seems like it was a cloudy, cold weekend in the Bay Area from the telecast (which surely impacted scoring and made it lower scoring).
