RE: WBB 2025-2026 season - BostonCard - 11-26-2025

Texas won 76-65.  I was low-key rooting for the sweet meteor of death.

UCLA probably won't fall much in the poll by getting beat by #4.

Unranked tOSU beat #21 West VA.

Down to 4.

What a quandary!  Which team do I less care for???

In such a situation, I root for both teams... to lose.

Reminds me of a family story.
My Dad was from near Columbus OH and went to tOSU.
He met my Mom who was from the Northeast and went to UMass.
He told her "You haven't seen real college football til you've seen Big 10 football!"
So he dragged my Mom, who craved attending a college football game like a Vegan would crave a dinner at Ruth's Chris steak house,
out to a tOSU vs West Virginia game.
Which of course West Virginia won.
I think it was the one and only college game my Mom ever went to.

The Texas-UCLA game, like UCLA vs. Oklahoma earlier this season and UCLA vs. UCONN in last season's Final Four demonstrated that Lauren Betts is NOT the post player the media makes her out to be.

Today, she was limited to 8 points and consistently pushed away from the block by the two Texas big girls.  Against Oklahoma, Raegan Beers was stronger, pushing Betts away from her 'sweet spot' down low.  Beers and Betts pretty much cancelled each other out.  In last season's Final Four, (then) freshman Sarah Strong, really moved Betts away from the basket as UCONN rolled over the Bruins.

Betts has never developed the mobility necessary to be consistently dominant. She still looks 'mechanical' when she puts the ball on the floor.  In my mind, the best center in all of college basketball without question is Iowa State's Audi Crooks.

ESPN mock WNBA draft has her projected as the #4 pick with Azzi Fudd currently being projected #1. I think she can play in the W but would have major issues guarding Aja Wilson, Breann Stewart etc. Betts that is.

RE: WBB 2025-2026 season - Lorcan - 11-27-2025

Former Cardinal Indya Nivar with a triple double in a UNC rout of a solid South Dakota State team. 13p, 12r, and 10 steals. Glad to see her doing well closer to home.

FFS. The next two games are broadcast on the execrable FloSports Network. Absolutely disgusting.

Has to be her best game.

Maybe Crooks is the best center, but later in the season we may have the depth to foul her out. Remember Brink?

well Betts isn’t playing today against Duke, and was apparently nursing an arm injury against Texas.

You can sign up to FloCollege for one month for $19.99 and then cancel. I never had problems canceling in previous years.

In the past you could get a 25% discount by signing up through the web page of a conference that uses Flo conference-wide, with no checking of your affiliation, but that seems to be gone now. Now you can get a 50% discount, but only if you have a .edu email address from a member school of such a conference.

Been there many times, done that. I’ll note my ESPN subscription is $29.99/mo iirc.

BTW, Stanford alumni get a .org email.

I might have a courtesy stanford.edu email that still works, but those don't help since the ACC doesn't use FloSports.

RE: WBB 2025-2026 season - BosCard - 11-28-2025

The refs are pretty awful.  Two very questionable charge calls and then Lepolo gets pushed out of bounds and the refs call nothing.

RE: WBB 2025-2026 season - martyup - 11-28-2025

Stanford trails FGCU 25-28 at the half.

RE: WBB 2025-2026 season - BosCard - 11-28-2025

Pretty ugly first half against FGCU.  Small scrappy team.  We are turning the ball over.  Most of our 3 point attempts have been air balls.  Eschmeyer really struggled on defense.  She was out of position and FGCU had a bunch of layups.  Refs are not helping.  Lots of bogus charge/flops being called on us.

Announcers saying the shooting background is pretty bad. IIRC one three total in the first half, lots of airballs. Does FloSports get to choose the venue?

RE: WBB 2025-2026 season - CompSci87 - 11-28-2025

The venue looks claustrophobic, with a low ceiling.. That might be a reason for the poor shooting.
