It's over.  Back to the home gym to work on passing and setting.

I really enjoyed the announcing team a lot this game though his counterpart was a bit dazed and confused. Not sure how you confuse Parks for Sayers minus the jersey numbers are close.

Anyway, yeah Stanford wins in a pretty low energy game almost completely devoid of defense or blocking. Rubin rests which is fine. Announcer was dead on - Parks setting was erratic today, though she served well. Not sure there was much to learn from this one. It’s a win.

A W is a W.

Ditto, ditto, ditto.  I liked the male announcer. Several times he said sloppy playing from both teams; you rarely hear that kind of truth. Stanford managed two blocks total for points in this match.

For the match VT hit .327. DEEEEEE-FENSE?

Agree completely.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 09-28-2025

As we said in football last night a win is a win. Our defense 3-4 on a scale of 10. There D much better
Shows what a difference Rubin makes all around
Only 8 hitting errors Blyaskov hit 467 Kurt 471.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - johnbar - 09-29-2025

In the coaches poll, Stanford slips (slightly) from T-3 to 4th place.

Logan Parks is again ACC Freshman of the Week.

Big match in Maples on Sunday vs. #6 Louisville. (2pm PT on ESPN.)  Should indicate how good Stanford really is right now.

Notre Dame (unranked) on Friday:  they're better than VTech, but with Rubin playing, should be an easy win.  Hopefully the Card stay focused in set 3.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BostonCard - 09-30-2025

This is Parks’ first freshman of the week award.  She won (co)setter of the week two weeks ago.  That being said, it’s the fourth time in six weeks that a Stanford player has won freshman of the week.  In addition to Parks, Sayer has won it twice and Etzler once.  Six weeks in and we’ve had six awards winners, all by freshmen.  Parks has won freshman and setter of the week, Etzler has won defensive and freshman player of the week, and Sayer has won freshman of the week twice.

In Veracruz, Mexico, Xolani Hodel and Kylie Deberg won their two pool matches in the FIVB Challenge event.  They advance directly to the round of 16 tomorrow.  Yesterday, sophomore Ruby Sorra (with Devin Corah - I assume their names rhyme) lost their qualification match 2-1 (representing Canada).

Next week, 2026 recruit Ruby Cochrane will be representing Canada at the FIVB U18 World Championship in Doha, Qatar.

And the following week the all-Stanford team of Ruby Sorra and Ofure Odigie will be representing Canada in the U21 Worlds in Puebla, Mexico.  Sophomore Avery Jackson is teamed with Sally Perez (UCLA) in the same event.

Yes, sorry.

Short interview with Jordyn Harvey, about how Stanford was always her school.

Slightly off-topic, but Nebraska just obliterated Penn State at Penn State: -6. -15-, -13. The whole match lasted less than 1 hr and 15 min.

Penn State this year is not the Penn State of last year. Wisconsin may be the only team in the Big10 that can compete with Nebraska. Huskers may be undefeated going into the NCAA tourney.

Was that Blyashov in the back row playing world class floor defense?

I think that is 8 block points in set 1 alone so far for ND.

Set 1 Stanford barely but Rubin .000. Blyashov .100. Harvey .000. Overall  .158.

So far Rubin .000. Blyashov .100. Harvey .000. Overall  .158.

My comment was made in the beginning of the set when Blyashov was serving.

Looking pretty sluggish and unimpressive thus far. Not great volleyball. This will not get it done against Louisville on Sunday. Not a lot of sharpness to our play, serving, setting, hitting. Hoping we can clean things up and still get the sweep.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - mbdude - 10-03-2025

1block compared to their 9

That’s sure what it looks like out here in the wilds of Omaha.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BostonCard - 10-03-2025

But also, 4 service aces to their 1 (both teams have 7 service errors).  Also, Stanford with 29 kills to Notre Dame’s 20.

Well, we pulled that one off, barely.  26-24 in the second set.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 10-03-2025

Stanford 14 hitting errors ND just 4.
We are lucky to be up 2-0
