Tale of two games - the first 20 mins and the last 40 mins.

Now Sarell is injured, and once again the lack of sufficient recruiting is biting us in the butt. Rouse looked like a true freshman. This is going to be a long season with this thin OL.

3 Stars of the game:
- Cam Scarlett. Once again he played really well. New career long run I never thought he'd get
- Davis Mills for the first 20 mins
- TreeFense for the first 20 mins

4 Goats of the game:
- Obi Eboh. Missed tackles, beaten for two TDs in the first half. Just played awful all night
- Lance Anderson - both for having no answers for the U$C offense and for being in charge of recruiting which hasn't delivered the necessary depth especially at OL where we need to be TEN deep not six/seven deep
- DL. No pressure on Slovis all night
- Davis Mills for the last 40 mins. Missed way too many open receivers.

Not that it matters, but on the first Stanford offensive play, I saw the USC linemen and thought "Holy cow those guys are brobdingnagian," then "they're going to wear out our OL."

When you can't get pressure on Slovis, the U$C WRs will burn any secondary. You can only hope to contain receivers up until pressure reaches the QB, and that didn't really happen.

If your offense can't sustain long drives and give your defense some rest, your defense will wear down a lot more quickly and start giving up big plays.

Mills has to stop diving headfirst...he looks like he's belly-flopping onto the turf. Did he forget how he even got the starting job this game?

If Mills is limited in his decision-making capabilities, the offensive braintrust should have been adapting to that and designing better quick/hot/dump routes.
