Two words:  Caitie Baird.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - Canalejas - 09-03-2023

Wow! What a bounce-back win.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - johnbar - 09-03-2023

Stanford looked very good.  A lot of SEs, but good blocking and defense.  Good connection between Miner and the hitters.

And yes, Texas tried to pick on Baird and she handled them.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - cardfan77 - 09-03-2023

Wow that was a different team compare to Tuesdays team. Fantastic all around. Yes, a ton of service errors but Stanford tough serving pressured Texas passing a lot causing a lot free ball or soft swings. Cut down service errors, improve blocking and passing, this team can go far

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 09-03-2023

13 blocks in three sets is a lot. Sorry I was about to say that before your post cardfan77. Passing great. But your point on serving I do agree. Our three toughest servers Rubin, Oglivie and Pringle had 10 of the service errors. It’s a work in process Stanford hit 396. Texas hit 130.

OHs RUBIN and BAIRD a combines 26-3-48, almost .500! Wow!

I like the addition of the triple blockers. It was quite effective. Also, sample size but Baird’s passing and attacking just seem improved from previous years

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 09-03-2023

Florida just beat Minnesota 22-18-22.
3-0

I don't think the SEs are a problem at all.  I thought the key difference to FL was that we served tough and kept them OOS and off balance.  They never got into a rhythm.  That is why it is so important to serve tough and not really worry about the SEs.

Baird played well and was a step up.

But IMO the story of the year is Rubin is hitting 384 with 3.77 KPS.  If Rubin hits over 300 we are going to be very very difficult to beat.

Indeed. Big difference with 3 players in double-digit kills.

Article on Stanford commit Taylor Yu. She missed her junior year with a torn meniscus, but has come back strong at the start of her senior year.

Kipp is the offensive POW, Miner the defensive POW.

Congrats to Taylor & her family. Thanks for sharing the article on her, Spiny. Great to read about her public school volleyball journey and her dad’s involvement. I went to elementary school in neighboring San Gabriel and would have attended Alhambra HS where her father attended. I look forward to meeting her and cheering her on.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - Softball Fan - 09-04-2023

Thanks Tony.  I saw your youtube video of the match.   I have Spectrum Cable and was unable to watch live because Disney pulled all its content from Spectrum in a contract dispute.  I might cancel my Spectrum subscription if the dispute is not resolved within a few more days.  No ESPN affiliated channels including SEC and ACC networks.

Until the age of 5, I lived on Rosemead Blvd which was a regular street. As I recall, you could drive straight down Rosemead to the beach. My oldest brother was a playmate of Liz Taylor as 5 year olds...so the legend goes.

I already posted this on VT, but now that the cardboard is back, I'll post it here.  In case someone wants to contribute some bucks:

Buy a Caitie Baird t-shirt or Taylor Beaven hoodie; get your NIL merch:

You’re welcome. Fubo.tv and espn+ seem to have about everything. At least that’s what I use.
