RE: Class of 2024 - Langdude - 12-06-2023

The next few weeks should be really interesting!

80 present scholarships + 26 incoming scholarships (and counting) = 106 scholarships

That means we have to lose 21 scholarships to get to the maximum of 85. We have 21 senior/5th year scholarships on the books. Two non-seniors have also declared for the portal. If everyone graduated and left, that would be a 23-scholarship decrease, which would leave us with two extra spaces.

However, we know that some of those seniors/5th years will stay (e.g., Phillips and Sinclair). We also know that we'll get some transfers.

That means we must have some non-seniors either transfer or retire (or there would have to be attrition to the 26-member CardClass24).

Again, should be interesting. Apparently the coaching staff knows more than we do or else they would not be seeking more commits.

It’s now public than lineman Rogers and McLaughin will be back

RE: Class of 2024 - Hurlburt88 - 12-07-2023

Great big smile at that news!

RE: Class of 2024 - Langdude - 12-07-2023

That is great news!

I posted a running total of graduations/transfers/scholarships here, but didn't want to muck up the recruiting news, so I moved it over to the personnel thread...

this is of immense proportions.

Stanford commit Elijah Brown finished up his prep career in outstanding fashion, throwing for four touchdowns as Mater Dei whipped Serra 35-0 in the finals of the California state playoffs.

RE: Class of 2024 - CardinalSagehen - 12-18-2023

With the defection of Emanuel Ross, another 247 Composite 4* has left the class.  We now have only four of them remaining (and only two 4*'s according to 247's own rating.)

The Average Rating of the class is 37th, while the Total Points (based on quantity and quality) is 31st.
I'd venture a guess that all of these teams will do as well or better than Stanford in the transfer portal, too.

With the dearth of proven talent on our roster, we're going to need great coaching, luck, and a very strong ability ($$$) to retain diamonds in the rough when we find them (e.g., Elic Ayomanor). It wouldn't hurt if Elijah Brown turns out to be elite, either!

More on Hoitink:

Slinger (Wis.) High offensive lineman Charlie Hoitink signed with Stanford on Wednesday morning, choosing to reclassify from the 2025 class to 2024.
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Hoitink is a 4.0 student that boasts a 420-pound bench press. He is a physical, nimble-footed player at the point of attack that has the toughness Troy Taylor covets at the position.
“Very excited to get working with Coach V(iane Talamaivao) and Coach (Al) Netter and begin developing my skills as an offensive lineman,” Hoitink said. “Also excited to put in work with Coach (Ryan) Deatrick and my teammates this summer!
