Hard to see Niners win. Four inexperienced OL, plus McGinchey not effective in pass-pro, means Niners have big problem moving the ball and protecting JG. Defense will hold their own vs Rams offense. Rams win in low scoring game 24 -10. Hope I'm wrong.

So far, you are right about low scoring.  Let’s hope it stays that way!

Nice win.  Dominant defense. Offense played solid game. Nice job by JG and o-line. And Deebo being Deebo.

Thought well shot by the Old Man too.

The camera shots were horrible. Then again, I only listened to parts of the game on the radio. . . .

Your sure your shots were awesome Phogge

Garoppolo demonstrated why the choice was Lance. His margin for error is just too small and he can't make off schedule plays.

Pitiful that they haven't allowed over 257 yards of offense in a game and are 1-2. The passing game is atrocious.

Shanahan is going to have to re-think his approach because it is not working as planned.

And your thoughts now?

Curious, where are you filming from?  What vantage point I mean.

Hey, I came within a point of predicting the score. Just got the teams mixed up.

Not shooting for live TV. NFL Films is the league storyteller, the center of league history. Plus we service a number of shows on multiple channels and streams and produce our own shows for multiple channels and streaming. Also we provide the NFL Network with a mountain of content.

among other customers I’ve been blessed for the most successful show on network TV, “60 Minutes” and have shot over 50 years for, IMO, the finest production company in America, NFL Films.

My position is called Main Top. Basically ball follow; tighter, and more difficult, than the picture you see on television. Also responsible for color shots like following Hufanga to the bench after his pick. Also some pregame color and establishing shots.

We don’t just document. Steve Sabol loved stories and we carry on.

“Old man Willie”. One of The King’s great calls.

The Brown INT was shot by the legendary Ernie Ernst who also was the only operator who shot the ENTIRE Immaculate Reception. Including all the network cameras.

In all four games the Niners have played so far, they have lost a starter for at least a month.

Week 1: Elijah Mitchell  2 months MCL
Week 2: Trey Lance - Season ankle
Week 3: Trent Williams - Month+ ankle; Azeez Al Shaair - 2 months MCL
Week 4: Colton McKivitz - 2 months MCL

This simply is not sustainable. Thankfully, most of the injuries are on Offense, allowing the best Defense in the NFL to stay intact for now, but the injuries have absolutely hurt the Offense and put a heavy load on the Defense to carry. As it stands, the Niners can't win a game they allow more than 10 points. Not a recipe for success and a great way to waste a dominant Defense.

Steve Young said not to judge Garoppolo quite yet due to missing OTAs and Training camp. And he was better against the Rams than the Broncos, but still not great according to Colin Cowherd, who basically said with a better than average QB performance, the Niners beat the Rams 31-9 without the Defense scoring a TD.

I know it's unpopular, but I now strongly believe it was a mistake to bring back Garoppolo. Kyle Shanahan had the perfect situation to drop an inexperienced QB into, with a dominant Defense. Let him learn on the job playing him like a modern NFL QB. Instead, he was scared Lance might struggle - rather than appreciating that is part of his growth - and put him in harm's way as a glorified RB that was lost for the season when it was critical for him to play this year given how little he has played since High School.

We'll never know how good Lance would be as the season wore on this year, but the reality is the roster is one of the best in the NFL when intact, and the QB is a major weak link on the team.  It might have been so with Lance, but at least he will be in an improvement trajectory. Garoppolo isn't going to get appreciably better than he is, and having him limits the Offense too much to be a realistic Super Bowl contender IMO.

Trading 3 first round picks to get Lance was stupid if this is how you are going to develop him.

RE: OT: 2022 Niners thread - Mick - 10-05-2022

Garoppolo is currently ranked #27 out of 32 quarterbacks, judging by QBR.  Of course, Rodgers is #22, Cousins is #20, Davis Mills is #29.

By straight passer rating, Garoppolo is #14 out of QBs with at least 500 attempts. He's #6 in yards per attempt.  He grades out, right now, as an average quarterback.  But JG basically had no OTAs, no training camp, no time with the first team, and he was thrust into the second game of the season.  He looked really, really rusty.  Looked bad at Denver, and pretty good against LA.

I think after 2-3 more games, when he's had more time with the receivers and the backs and the line -- he'll do much better.  I'm not going to judge him after three games, particularly after a Monday night win over the defending Super Bowl champs in which he had a 100+ passer rating.

You must like Brock Purdy.  Had they not brought back JG they’d be up shit creek without a paddle in a wire mesh canoe.

And yes, trading 3 first rounders for the Lance was a mistake.

Injuries are part of the game.  Therefore, if you want to be successful, you need quality depth (see Jimmy G.).  As far as what the media says, in particular, the nitwits that make comments just to stir up controversy, who gives a damn. In this era, anyone with a microphone or keyboard can say or publish stuff knowing that fans will invariably migrate to those whose narrative matches their own.  Easy money for them as they lead the lemmings to the sea.

Bringing back Garrapolo was a fortuitous move by SF.  Had they not done so, they would have had no chance this year (the dearth of quality QB’s, both starters and back-ups is one of the dirty little secrets of the NFL).  In combination with a stellar D, Garappolo is good enough to manage the Niners to the playoffs, whether that results in a Super Bowl appearance is anyone’s guess.

In the meantime, count me as a proponent of the Lance trade.

Didn't someone recently quote Cowherd as to saying "there's no money in being right", or something like that. . . .

And on another note, you're attributing Trey's injury to bringing back Jimmy? Wow, that's a stretch.
