Mays is the only player to hit a HR in every inning from 1-16.

Correct on the OakColiseum as Mays' last hit.

Other player was Hank Aaron.

Other Mays trivia:
1. Mays was the only player ever to have 3,000 hits, 300+ home runs, steal 300+ bases and have a career .300+ batting average.
2. Only player to ever have 50+ HRs and 20+ triples in the same season.
3. Mays is the only player with 600 or more home runs to have a four home run game. Three of Mays' four home runs that day were hit off of All-Stars, Lew Burdette and Don McMahon.
4. Mays had 70+ extra base hits in 13 consecutive seasons, from '54 to '66. No other hitter had 70+ extra base hits in any 13 seasons, consecutive or non-consecutive.
5. Mays had 7.0bWAR or more in those 13 seasons. Lou Gehrig is next most with 10 seasons.
6. Mays had at least one hit in 15 All Star games. Musial was next with 14. Mays' 23 All Star game hits are the most in ASG history.
7. In his career, Mays faced 14 Hall of Fame pitchers, batting .286 with an .859 OPS over 1,319 plate appearances against them. He hit 56 of his 660 home runs off of the HoF pitchers, including 18 against Spahn, 13 against Drysdale, five against Koufax and four each against Robin Roberts and Fergie Jenkins.
8. of the 28 players in the 500 HR club, none hit as many triples as Mays' 140. Ruth was next at 136, Foxx had 125. Of that same 500 HR club, Mays was second in stolen bases (338) trailing only Barry Bonds (514).
9. Mays was equally strong at home or on the road (.302/.301) and 335 HR/325 HR.
10. Mays had a .965 OPS in high leverage situations. That's fifth behind Foxx, Barry Bonds, Musial and Aaron.

And finally...in 1971, Mays was named the inaugural recipient of the Commissioner's Award, which was later renamed the Roberto Clemente Award following Clemente's death in '72. The honor is given annually to the player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field.

Watching the Giants vs. Cardinals at Rickwood. Heard Reggie Jackson claim the 1969 All Star game had the most future Hall of Famers. It had a lot, not the most. 1971 ASG had 22 future Hall of Famers. Not the most.

Which All-Star game had the most future Hall of Fame players?

2/3 (182/273) of all the players who have been elected to the Hall of Fame played at Rickwood Field at some point in their careers.  

The history of that park is truly amazing.

That was an extraordinary venue, such history and an interesting game to watch. I love baseball history, so it was really cool for me.

Bob was right. Second All Star game in the current series was 1934. 28 future Hall of Famers were on the rosters of the two teams, 13 for the Americans, 15 for the Nationals. Every starter on both teams was a future Hall of Famer save for Wally Berger. That was the game that Hubbell struck out Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Simmons and Cronin consecutively.

1934 Major League Baseball All-Star Game - Wikipedia

Long before the current All-Star series, a popular 31 year old pitcher for Cleveland named Addie Joss died of tubercular meningitis two days before the start of the 1911 season. Joss was a great pitcher gone too soon. Best WHIP in MLB history. Seven one-hitters, 45 shutouts, 1.89 career ERA. Ty Cobb called Joss the most difficult pitcher for him to face, he hit just .233 career off of Joss. The club decided to host a fundraiser for his wife and two children on the one day that the entire league had off, July 24. They asked each team to contribute a player or two.

Here was the lineup for the All-Star team: Starting pitcher, Smoky Joe Wood; outfielders Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker and Sam Crawford; IF of 1B Hal Chase, 2B Eddie Collins, 3B Home Run Baker, SS Bobby Wallace. All HoF except Wood and Los Gatos HS product Chase, a great player and the finest fielding 1B of his day. Not a great guy, however (see his role in the Black Sox scandal). Walter Johnson was the backup pitcher. Can you imagine? Wood started because he and Speaker had to leave in the third inning to catch the train back to Boston.

Cleveland's starting pitcher was Cy Young. RF was Shoeless Joe Jackson. Nap Lajoie managed and played 1B. The game raised nearly $13k for Joss' widow ($422k in current dollars).

Looks like Tiger turned down the Ryder Cup captaincy and it will be Keegan Bradley, not Stuart Cink. Curious choice. Has a feel of a response to the five point loss in the last Ryder Cup to me. 38-year old Bradley is 4-3-0 in the Ryder Cup. He's the youngest captain in 62 years, since Arnold Palmer was player/captain in 1963.

Duffy was about a 3rd round the year before then hit a long HR off Phogge and was drafted 6 th overall
