Only 2022 on the team, playing along with some current college players like Caitlin Clark. She led the team in rebounds, third in scoring, top in blocks, and led the whole tournament in field goal percentage. And only played 16 minutes a game. If using 40 minute stats, she lead the whole tournament in essentially every single stat line. She is going to be a very special player. Between her and Brink, we are going to be super solid down low next year and the year after.
It seems like Lepolo had a super strong spring and summer season and expected to rise in rankings. Not overly impressed by the video I can find, but it’s old. Would be curious to see more recent clips of her.
Same here, I also watched all the games of the USA from the U19 World Cup with special attention to the play of BETTS. I was pretty impressed with her game, as she's very steady/solid at both ends in a team that has great players at every position. I want to see her continue to develop a more potent mid-range shot and offensive moves around the basket.
She is not as athletic and mobile as another tall center who was also the #1 overall recruit from 13 years ago, Britney GRINER, but GRINER is a once in a generation type of player. In terms of talent and athleticism, I similarly compare BETTS with another 6'7 great collegiate player from almost 30 years ago, Kara WOLTERS, who averaged 15.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, and 2.7 bpg during her impressive collegiate basketball career as a UConn Husky, who she helped win their first NCAA championship in 1995 as a sophomore. WOLTERS went on to have a nice WNBA career and was a member of the USA women's senior national basketball team in the late 1990s and early 2000s as Lisa LESLIE's backup at center.
BETTS will most probably come off the bench during her Stanford freshman season as backup to both junior-by-then Cameron BRINK and senior-by-then Ashten PRECHTEL. Then during her sophomore year, she will team up with senior-by-then 6'4 BRINK as Stanford's 1-2 punch at the post, reminiscent of the senior-by-then Rebecca LOBO/sophomore-by-then WOLTERS similar 6'4/6'7 post tandem during UConn's first national championship season in 1995.

Did anyone make it to the game and see the team/recruits there? Apparently Betts NOT on campus this weekend. Only recruit I saw in any postings was Lepolo. Kiki Rice was at UCLA on Friday. Hoping others were around just not in the photos.

In addition to Lepolo, Amari Whiting and Sammie Wagner were others visiting. Hard to tell from one photo but also looked like possibly Indya Nivar.

Kiki Rice was at UCLA?
Hardly consistent with the notion that she is not interested in Stanford because she doesn't want to play so far away from home.

BobK: That is great to hear. So possibly another big recruiting weekend upcoming. Will be curious to see what others are visiting. Kiki Rice posted UCLA was her 2nd official visit. No idea where her first visit was to. Her recruitment has been so hush hush. Would be nice for her to come the same weekend as Betts as they are former USA basketball teammates.
Would also love to see Judea Watkins take an official sometime this fall. Many speculate she will stay west and is ranked #1 for 2023. She took an unofficial to USC along with Sammie Wagner earlier this month.

Thanks for the updates. I haven't really kept abreast with Stanford WBB recent recruiting except for the commit by 2022 #1 overall 6'7 center Lauren BETTS.
So for the 2022-23 season, we have 13 scholarship players so far:
Senior:
*****
JONES 6'1 SF/PF #1 Class of 2019
PRECHTEL 6'5 C #16
BELIBI 6'1 PF #18
JUMP 6'0 SG #50
Junior:
*****
BRINK 6'4 C #3 Class of 2020
GYTENBEEK 5'7 PG #39
NNOPU 5'11 SG (2019 Australia U19 National Team)
Sophomore:
*********
DEMETRE 6'3 SF #11 Class of 2021
IRIAFEN 6'3 PF #19
HARRIEL 5'10 PG #78
BOSGANA 6'2 SF (2019 Greece U16 National Team)
Freshmen:
********
BETTS 6'7 C #1 Class of 2022
LEPOLO 5'7 PG (has this been confirmed?)
Class of 2022 #6 overall 5'11 PG Kiki RICE would definitely clinch a Top 3 2022 recruiting class for Stanford and assure continued strong Final Four contention for Stanford beyond next season.
And the possibility of 2023 #1 overall 6'0 SF Judea WATKINS is awesome, as she would be a magnificent replacement for her 2019 #1 overall counterpart....

Brown has 2 years of eligiblity
Given Lepolo’scoach has tweeted about several players with but no mention of Lepolo I doubt she’s a commit. At least a teammate would have said something

BASHAM may be a tall commit for Oregon who can see BETTS eye-to-eye, but the Ducks' biggest catch from the Class of 2022 is #7 overall recruit 5'9 PG Chance GRAY, who is ranked right below #6 overall Kiki RICE as the 2nd highest ranked PG.
In an interview about her recruiting, GRAY's final two were Oregon and UCLA. I speculate that another reason why she chose the Ducks over the Bruins is because UCLA already has Class of 2022 #9 overall 5'5 PG Londynn JONES and Class of 2023 #16 overall 5'6 PG Jada WILLIAMS (who was very impressive as the starting PG of the gold winning USA U16 national team last month).
WOW! THe Class of 2022 is shaping up to be a stronghold of the PAC 12, as they so far have coralled 7 of the Top 11:
#1 - Lauren BETTS 6'7 C Stanford
#4 - Timea GARDNER 6'3 PF Oregon State
#7 - Chance GRAY 5'9 PG Oregon
#8 - Aaliyah GAYLES 5'9 PG USC
#9 - Londynn JONES 5'5 PG UCLA
#10 - Maya NNAJI 6'4 PF Arizona
#11 - Raegen BEERS 6'2 C Oregon State
#20 - Paris CLARK 5'8 SG UCLA
#28 - Kailyn GILBERT 5'9 SG Arizona
#33 - Hannah STINES 5'10 SG Washington
#35 - Jennah ISAI 5'11 SF Oregon
#44 - Kennedy BASHAM 6'7 C Oregon
Updated Class of 2022 Rankings (as of Sept 29, 2021):
#1 - Lauren BETTS 6'7 C Stanford
#6 - Timea GARDINER 6'3 PF Oregon State
#7 - Chance GRAY 5'9 PG Oregon
#8 - Aaliyah GAYLES 5'9 PG USC
#9 - Maya NNAJI 6'4 PF Arizona
#10 - Raegan BEERS 6'2 C Oregon State
#19 - Gabriela JACQUEZ 6'0 PF UCLA
#21 - Paris CLARK 5'8 SG UCLA
#22 - Londynn JONES 5'5 PG UCLA
#31 - Kailyn GILBERT 5'8 SG Arizona
#35 - Jennah ISAI 5'11 SF Oregon

Also, a nice write up on big movers in the rankings on ESPN. Mentions two Stanford prospects. Indya Nivar moved up to #20 in the rankings and has narrowed it to UNC, NCST, and Stanford. Also mentioned is #18 Hannah Hidalgo, and lists Stanford as heavily recruiting her. So, may need to add her as a prospect for 2023.
