This is a young staff who has potential. I have not see any improvement throughout the season. I am not sure what Eager is doing. Again, he has a quick trigger and the pitchers know it. This team has that fireballer from Duke, and he seems to have gotten worse throughout the season. He should be getting better. When this offense keeps this team in games, the pitching has failed.

I thιnk the team just got tired. Freshmen have no experience with air travel, staying in hotels, and a much longer season. Plus — in case anyone forgot — they have to pass Stanford classes. I remain somewhat optimistic about next year, but agree that Thomas is a mystery.

Thank you for proving the point that travel ball is a waste of time too. Air travel, they are not flying across the country like they will be next year. I think have the Japanese player (sorry forgot his name) here now to be part of this as a member of the team will help him in gaining the attitude at this level. Although, seems like he was feeling that in Japan. I have no doubt Esquer will get this team ready, but the pitching is what I am worried about. Maybe Eager having his kid BB is a distraction. Again, having sat near the dugout at times. I see him talking to his kids and his wife during the game.

Well. Stanford puts up eight in the fourth, featuring two Malcolm Moore home runs. In the bottom of the fifth they’re reminding us why, with this team, no lead is ever safe. Now 8-2 bottom 5 ASU batting, 2 outs, bases loaded. O’Harran in for Lim.

Joey Volchko was the man today! He shut out the top offense in the Pac-12 for 6 innings, giving up 2 hits and 4 walks. Trevor Moore and Toran O'Harran finished it up. A bit of drama in the 9th, but holding the Beavs to one run is a big deal for this pitching staff. And now they get an extra day to rest up while all the top seeds are in action tomorrow. It's been a rough year for the pitchers, but I think that all these young arms are going to be fun to watch for the next couple years.
As for the offense - stay hot Malcolm Moore! He had his third home run in the 2 Pac-12 tourney games. Cort MacDonald had 3 hits and scored a much-needed insurance run on a double by Ethan Hott.

Malcolm Moore is such a a pleasure to watch. He had a big role as a freshman last year on a team full of veterans. He's a first round talent so he's almost certainly gone after this season but I appreciate his willingness to stay the course with this roster, especially knowing how much he could have gotten for his services elsewhere. He is willing this team to victories, extending his time in a Stanford jersey. Frankly, his "give a damn" level is so high that I'm completely bought in as a fan!

Moore is a sophomore. Doesn't he have to be in college for 3 years before he is eligible to be drafted? Stanford fans might be able to watch him for one more year.

Yes, as I learned from BobK before. So Rintaro Sasaki will also fall into this category. We’ll probably only have him for 2 years. I had a nice chat with him last month—he is a fine young man with a great attitude and a good head on his shoulders. Makes me optimistic about the future.
