Arizona was simply Stanford's daddy this year, in a way that even Oregon State didn't manage to do. We played five games against them, the first four they beat our &%$, and tonight was the best we did in all five games we played against them. I'm not going to complain about not playing them regularly any more, I think they're going to become a force in the Big 12, and this year they were one of the top two teams in the Pac and RPI no.30. I'll take our chances in the ACC, with their 7 teams in the top 30.
Of course, we'll have to improve by leaps and bounds across the board if we don't want to get squashed week in and week out. Rintaro Sasaki will be a heartily greeted arrival, but we'd best not rely on him doing it all by himself.

Thanks for sharing. This made me tear up a little. Watching Stanford sports in ACC will not be the same. I’ve always rooted for other PAC10/12 schools when playing a nonconference game. I don’t think I’ll be doing the same

After watching that . . . I really hate what USC and UCLA did to the Pac-12. Abject greed destroyed our wonderful conference. Shame on them. Forever shame.

Same. I really hope the swimming, track & field, and other outdoor sports enjoy visiting Wisconsin in October and March.

I have bet money on the conference reforming in less than 20 years.

They have a much bigger media budget cushion to make things work. I don't think they'll be back any time soon.
But without them, how important is it for us to reform the old gang anyway? Will we be happy to reconnect with the Beavs and Cougs if it means they bring a new friend in Boise with them too?

I'm hoping for a scenario where we get absorbed in a six school western arm of the B1G. UW, Oregon, UCLA/USC, Cal. Those are the teams that I care about most.

Just curious…
In an alternate universe, Stanford and Cal are offered an opportunity to jump to the Big Ten with a full financial share (in lieu of USC and UCLA). Would you be as upset had that happened (assuming that decision also would have led to the collapse of the Pac12)?
In this universe, I cannot criticize the southern California schools for jumping because I know I wouldn’t be upset had it been the northern California schools jumping.
It wasn’t greed that drove the decision, it was the desire to continue to compete at the highest level. I don’t fault them at all.

I would have been ok playing the villain if it meant that Stanford jumped alongside Cal and UCLA. It's the breakup of our CA ties more than the Pac that bothers me.

I would not have supported our leaving the intact Pac-12 to join the B1G. Football is just one sport. Even in football, we hung with the best in the nation under Harbaugh and Shaw (for awhile).
We won the Sears cup every year for decades while a member of the Pac conference. The best athletic college in the nation! Now we are are a disrespected member of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The SoCal traitors would have never left the Pac-12 but for $$. If ESPN had offered $50m per school, the Pac-12 would be intact. It was all about the $.

Of course, the SCal schools left for the money. They were smart enough to read the handwriting on the wall that said — you should leave if you want to continue to compete at the highest level because there will only be two winners in this race (SEC and Big Ten) when all is said and done.
The facts are clear - the guilty parties are not USC and UCLA. The presidents and chancellors are the one’s responsible for blowing up the conference. Remember, ESPN offered $30 million/school in 2019 and the “conference leadership” said, no thanks. The rest is history.

I don't blame the schools for declining $30 million per school in 2019. It's declining that same amount in 2022 after the LA schools left that was malpractice.

Thanks for the info. Cements my opinion that the real problem was letting the 12 university presidents run the Pac-12 network.

With. Uncle Sam uses legislation that forces them against their will back to Pac and requires all conferences to be regional again as well as capping all conferences at no more than 10 teams which subsequently resurrects the Big 8 and SWC conferences.

SEC sets record with 11 teams in the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The SEC received 10 of the 34 at-large selections.
