Thank you. Probably also true for softball

No, the top 12 teams qualify for the ACC softball tournament. Bottom 3 teams do not qualify and their seasons are presumably over.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2025 - JJJ - 05-02-2025

In case anyone needs a reminder (like I did), Stanford playing at BC right now. These darned east coast games are hard to get used to (and I’m not even traveling)!

RE: Stanford Baseball 2025 - BobK - 05-02-2025

Top of 9 1-0 Stanford.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2025 - JJJ - 05-02-2025

We win 2-0! Volchko (6IP) and Keenan (3IP) combined for a 3-hit shutout! Keenan had 7Ks in 3 innings! WOW!

RE: Stanford Baseball 2025 - JJJ - 05-03-2025

Currently up 1-0, B3. Matt Scott was scratched from the start minutes before the game and Uber is making the emergency start. Sasaki hit a double and scored on a Saum bloop single for our lone run.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2025 - JJJ - 05-03-2025

We are down 2-3, B7. Uber gave us 4IP, Speshyock 2IP, now O’Harran on the mound.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2025 - TonyLima - 05-04-2025

Better today! 6-0 top 2 Stanford has batted around.

Any word on Matt Scott?

*7-0 after 1.5

Bite your tongue, Bob.  Stanford doing their best to blow yet another late inning lead.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2025 - BobK - 05-04-2025

I hate that the mercy run isn’t every game

RE: Stanford Baseball 2025 - Sam Leopold - 05-04-2025

Whew, the end of that game got a little loose with the Tabasco.  But that's a series win, our first one since...... what, the Boston Tea Party?

Current RPI. We’re #47? https://www.11point7.com/college-baseball/rpi-rankings

Baseball America has a projected NCAA tournament field. This is of course very unofficial, but, as of April 30, Stanford is not close to being invited to the dance:

https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2025-ncaa-baseball-tournament-bracket-projected-field-of-64-april-30/

Maybe last weekend's series win over BC (65 RPI) helped a little, but I kind of doubt it. We have regular season games left against Santa Clara (211) tonight, Grand Canyon x 3 (90) this weekend and North Carolina State x 3 (36) next weekend.

Stanford is currently 15th (out of 16) in the ACC rankings with a 9-18 conference record and no chance to earn a first-round bye in the ACC tournament starting on May 20. To win the automatic bid, we would need to win five games in six days.

In 2024 no ACC teams with a conference record below .500 were selected as at-large teams, although Georgia Tech and Wake Forest were 15-15.

I don't follow non-Stanford college baseball, so I have no idea what we would need to do to earn an at-large bid. Sweep SCU and GCU, win the series @ NC State and make the semis of the conference tournament? I don't know, that's just a WAG.

47 is better than 147.  Otherwise, I agree with your assessment.

Sasaki with a 3 run HR. Bates back with a HR lavin with a HR.  5-0 Stanford in the 2nd

Unfortunately that was the high water mark. We got outscored 13-1 the rest of the way.

And now I’ll concede. Postseason hopes vanishingly small.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2025 - JJJ - 05-12-2025

Spent 3-plus hours watching yesterday’s Senior Day game vs Grand Canyon from being down 4-8 to trading blows back and forth, giving up late leads, forcing extra innings with 2 away B9, and winning it in the 10th with no hits, a walk and 3 HBP including a sayonara one to Sasaki.

“The two teams combined for 31 runs on 39 hits, 12 walks and seven hit-by-pitches.”

I’m still tired… We next play NC State on 5/15 in the ACC tourney.

That’s not how I read the schedule.
