Stanford is the 17 seed. I think everyone here anticipated the Committee's seeding accurately. Stanford might have been a 16 seed and eligible to host if they had won a game in the ACC tournament.
Stanford plays Binghamton on Friday.
Btw, Texas Tech, which had never won a conference championship and never hosted a regional, won the Big 12 and is the overall 12 seed. New coach + Canady + 8 other transfers = results.

Ah yes, of course. Well they might have been a 16 seed and eligible to host if they had won 2 games in the ACC tournament (i.e., had defeated Duke which ended up as the 14 seed).

A question for those who know more about softball than I, talent, and recruits.
Out hitting seems to have improved significantly, but our pitching has gone the other way, if only because there is only one name Canady. Our hitting can win us a lot of games, but we can also lose games like Duke when we don't hit and do not have the shutdown pitching Canady provided.
Do we have any incoming pitchers even close to Canady's ability. If you have a weakness it seems far better to be short of hitting rather than pitching, but if you want to play on Sundays, so to speak, you need both.

Btw, put us into a brobdingnagian bind.
Chung had hardly pitched in her first three years at Stanford. Good hitter and in the OF. Amazing she has done so well. Houston and Zoe have 2 and 3 more years.
I have no clue other than Chung from nowhere to good how our new pitching coach is. I’m thinking she has done very good
We have 2 highly ranked pitchers coming in and a 3rd who is a late bloomer.
We have an excellent class coming in and we don’t lose much
You don’t get over losing a Canady
I think this has been an amazing season I go back to the beginning now about 30 years ago. The stadium the hitting the record all just outstanding

While our pitching should be better next year, imo we will not have anyone close to Canady who is one small step away from being a generational pitcher.
It will be interesting to see how Texas Tech does in the tournament. From the little video I've watched their hitting is not as good as Stanford's hitting.

I think we have as solid a chance as one could expect to advance from this regional (given we are not hosting). Oregon already has losses to Michigan State, Loyola Marymount and Oregon State, all at home.
Oregon is a good to a very good team, but they have played inarguably a very soft schedule.
Binghamton is a weak #3 regional seed.

Definitely better to have dominant pitching than strong hitting, as we saw the last two years with Canady. It's possible to ride one dominant pitcher all the way to the WCWS. Fortunately we also had a good #2 pitcher in Krause last year. Oregon is of course beatable and hasn't played a strong schedule, but their top pitcher held UCLA scoreless over 11 innings this season. I would assume she is pitching against us.

My guess is Jessica won't go to the transfer portal unless she has big NIL available for a top of the line pitcher. I don't think getting another pitcher at the same level as the other pitchers on the 2026 roster will make enough difference.

We had it good in the old Pac 12 days, almost no league game much over two hours away, and no more than one time zone. Now we have long, long trips, but OR,WA, SC and UCLA don't have it all that much better, Particularly SC and UCLA. My guess most of their fights are at least 4 hours and two time zones with Penn State and Rutgers being just like our trips.

Stanford dominates Binghamton from nearly the start of this contest, just narrowly missing a run-rule decision. Cardinal are 9-2 winners and will now play in the 1-0 game tomorrow.
