Parks is still a freshman. Agree she is a step back from what we were used to with ACC Setter of the Year Kami Miner, who was outstanding even as a freshman (she won Pac-12 freshman of the year in 2021), but I think it is a bit too early to conclude she *is* mediocre, as opposed to her play to date has been mediocre.
FWIW, Stanford is hitting .294 this year, which is actually better than Miner's freshman year (.281). As I am sure you will rightly note, there is a lot to go into that stat, especially passing (not to mention the quality of opponent, though we've played three top-10 teams so far), but I think it is important to place things in perspective; this team looks to be close to the median in terms of overall hitting percentage of the last 13 seasons (the stats on gostanford go back to 2012), and the overall team looks to be comparable to what we've seen lately (top-10 but not final-four caliber). We all wish it would be better, but I don't think you can be a top-10 team with a mediocre setter.

Not changing my opinion about that based on watching every match. I've posted a couple times she will be improved next year. I will note Sayer is one player who makes Parks look good. Sayer has an amazing ability to adjust to a set, see the blockers, and hit through the seam or around the block.

Fair. Probably too much time on my part coaxing young kids into believing that just because they play badly doesn't mean that they are bad.

I think we will see more Blyashov in the future because she’s a better passer than Kurt. I think their difference in hitting percentage isn’t a reflection of their hitting ability but rather their passing. A bad pass by Kurt means she is facing a well formed double block and will have a hard time terminating. A good pass by Blyashov means Parks/Yu has more options and can isolate Blyashov with a single blocker that she can tool or hit around.

Since Blyashov, Kurt, and Harvey are not reliable hitters (yet), this team needs to run the middles in order to be successful. I don't know their stats, but I think Blyashov is a better passer than Kurt. I also wish Hambly would give Cawa or Kirsch a chance, especially when Pringle struggles.
I am not sure what happened to Kurt, she was playing so well last year. She was known for her high fingertips hits. She seems to have lost her mojo, maybe because of Blyashov. If Blyashov learns to hit high fingertips, then I think she will secure the second OH spot. She has the power shots, whether it's cross-court or line shot; she just needs to diversify her attacks instead of trying to challenge the block all the time. Maybe Hambly just needs to commit to whoever the 2nd OH is and only bring in the other OH if the 2nd OH is struggling. Stop alternating the 2nd OH starter.
This team also needs to run more back-row attacks, whether it's a pipe set, a bic, or a D set.
Obviously, Hambly is a great coach, and I trust he knows what he is doing. I will trust the process.
I saw one match where Hambly started off with Kirsch as the main DS instead of Pringle, and Cawa taking Kirsch's usual role as serving sub. It didn't go so well with either (just my impression, I don't have stats), and he went back to Pringle/Kirsch. Sigh.

None of the options have played well. I would try whichever of Yu or Parks isn’t setting as a defensive specialist at this point and not just as a spot server. UL was intentionally serving at Pringle in the last match, and it worked in sets 2 and 3.
There is no doubt Kurt’s reception hurt her hitting percentage vs. UL. I remember 2 big runs where it was mostly a serve to Kurt, weak pass to Parks, resulting in a tough set that almost had to go back to Kurt who then couldn’t finish the play.

Kurt has looked good with I think 7 kills in set 1. Some issues with passing still.
Yu does not look dressed to play. I wonder if she's out this game? I thought she would be setting. I thought we'd see Yu and Blyshov. What do I know apparently.
First set was closer than it needed to be.

Did BC scout Stanford? They tried most of the time to serve to the OH. Good idea when it's Kurt. Not so good when it's Rubin.
I also expected Yu and Blyashov.
I guess Pringle is the best we have for DS.
It's good for Stanford that BC is not good today so far.
