Did Martha transfer to USB?
Talana is also leaving with a year of eligibility I believe.

Yes, I have. Here it is.
"Hi Ken,
Thank you for reaching out and for taking the time to share your perspective. We value the voices of our alumni community and appreciate your continued engagement with Stanford Athletics.
This is a period of significant change across college athletics, particularly with the transfer portal, and we understand the concerns you’ve raised. We recognize the urgency of this moment and are actively engaged, with a deep commitment to getting this right.
I am reviewing the feedback we are receiving and incorporating it into our ongoing discussions and standard year-end review process. We are being thoughtful in our approach and expect to share more publicly in the coming week.
Thank you again for writing.
John"
Lucky you to get a decent response! What do we all interpret/decipher from this message? “Getting this right” meaning the next coaching hire?

What is the "this?" I can think of only two explanations. One, the decision to fire or retain KP. Two, the decision of who to hire to replace KP. I guess it could be both.

If so per the email, show us how deeply you care about WBB and those student-athletes.

Same. It felt like a lot of law-firm-advised boilerplate but the one thing it said very clearly is that whatever they do, the decision will be made next week.
I'm currently trying to guess which law firm is busily spending this weekend finishing up their internal investigation report...

Does anyone find it odd that (to my knowledge), the SF Chronicle has not published one story about the exodus of Stanford players, let alone other brewing issues? In today's paper there is a story about your star (men's) basketball freshman leaving the program, but nothing on the multiple transfers for WBB. What do you think might be going on with the lack of news?

The Chronicle is, as a general matter, trash and has always treated Stanford sports very poorly.
Also, from an objective viewpoint, the (potential) loss of Okorie is a much bigger loss than all of the WBB losses.

You pointed out a number of very relevant reasons why WBB, along with MBB and FB, are in ways quite different than most other sports.
But as players depart our both our WBB and Wrestling teams for the portal, of course I don't advocate firing our wrestling coach.
A couple key differences between them, for one, he had a wildly successful season, drawing out so much improvement and performance out of his team, as to be able to win coach of the year. For the second point, he made it pretty clear in his appeal, that the key, if not only, reason he was losing players was due to staggering differences in NIL offers from big bucks places like Penn State. That was his story, and I don't know if any wrestlers have a different one, if so, I've not heard it. But I've no reason to doubt his explanation. These 2 points have me viewing WBB and Wrestling in quite different lights.

Me too. Another big difference is that the athletes themselves made it clear it was all about money. They liked where they were, but couldn't ignore the financial difference. We have heard no such statements from the WBB players that are in the portal.

Sadly, Marisa was let go from the Chronicle somewhat recently. She's still freelancing, and has done a ton of stories for the LA Times on UCLA's championship run.

Thank you very much, BobK, for your many, many contributions to this board. In this instance, it would be helpful if you provided a link to today's Mercury News story, because as a Mercury News subscriber, I was not able to find it (but I acknowledge that was perhaps to my user error). Thanks again (from a 30+ year Stanford women's basketball fan)

To be clear, I don’t advocate firing the wrestling coach, nor do I advocate firing Kyle Smith. And if an internal investigation finds that Paye was abusive to her players, she should be fired. But mere portal entries, while suggestive of a problem, can also have other explanations, and I want to be mindful that we don’t have all of the info, and likely never will.

Bummer. She was pretty much the regular Stanford WBB beat writer during the Cam Brink Jr/Sr years and wrote a lot of stuff in the Chronicle and was at nearly every home game.
