Fair enough. Maybe TTUAlum can give us the scoop on the Red Raiders and the atmosphere at Rip Griffin/Dan Law? Most importantly, do they have fans like the "Wooh!" Anteater fan?
I'm not familiar with the "Wooh!" Anteater fan.... But I am familiar with TCU fans that do some version of the "Wooh!'s" during games, it's annoying as hell.. TTU does have a heckler section between the first baseline and home plate, but most of those guys are older so they aren't yelling profanity or obscurities at players or anything like that.. The Big 12 sells alcohol now, so you can enjoy beers at the game (just remember to drink water- it'll be hot) so there is no re-entry. The atmosphere from my experience has always been pretty good. I've never seen a fight break out between fans or anything like that or anything on that level. The seating capacity is right about 5,000 and I'd expect it to be packed even with the heat.
What else would you like to know? Best players? Key injuries? etc.?
Post Edit: I'll throw a disclaimer out there.. TTU does have 1 fan known as "Eric" that will probably be there and be yelling trying to get chants started. He's probably in his mid-late 30's if I were guessing and he wears a cape and masked rider mask (ie. part of the mascot). It gets a little annoying, but maybe try to refrain from dogging him too much as he falls on the spectrum.

There are many more instances. In fact, the annoying 'Eater "woohed" at every ball thrown to an 'Eater batter and every strike thrown by an 'Eater pitcher. Folks on this board even claimed psychological damage to their pets by the offending 'Eater fan.
But looking ahead, I know that TTU is a great team, so what happened in the Big 12 tournament?

The preview isn't very knowledgeable about Stanford. The only real info on Tech is that the author expects them to stick to the same rotation they used during the regional: Chase Hampton- Patrick Monteverde- Mason Montgomery. Apparently they pitched well last weekend (and Tech cruised through their regional).
One thing that caught my eye was a note about "many" who felt Stanford should have been #8 seed above Tech with a defensive but obscure to non-Tech fans comment that, "They did not win the Pac-12 but they finished in third, two and a half games back. Maybe if they would’ve been another half game back they would’ve gotten unnecessary hate from around the country too."
[Tech finished third in the Big 12, 3 games back of Texas and TCU tied.]

Sounds very familiar... TCU does the same "wooing." Doesn't matter if it's a conference series, midweek, post season play they have lots of fans on the "woo" train.. As far as the Big 12 tourney for TTU, TTU hardly ever does well in it. I kind of feel like it boils down to Tadlock being in the camp that the conference tournament doesn't really mean much in most years. You either get the auto bid but other than that once the tourney rolls around, there's not much jockeying for position. I think this year contradicts that some though, I honestly though if TTU went 0-2 or 1-2 maybe even 2-2 that would fall outside of a national seed. All TTU folks were confident we'd be hosting a regional, but I wasn't so sure about a super.

Man... Where to start. TTU has had some significant losses in the pitching staff that started before the season even began. We lost Austin Becker and Hunter Dobbins prior to the season starting and both were projected to be #1 and #2 starters in the rotation. Two weeks into the season we lost Brandon Birdsell who had been bumped up to the #1 starter. So within a matter of weeks TTU lost its' entire starting pitching rotation.. We also lost Jakob Brustoski who was pegged to be TTU's #1 bullpen guy. (all Tommy John or season ending rotator injuries.)
Fast forward a little bit for most of the regular season Patrick Monteverde (94 K's in 82 innings), Micah Dallas (77 K's in 65 innings), and Mason Montgomery (84 K's in 63 innings) have been the weekend starters in that order. The ERA's between these guys are all in the "3." range, so not spectacular but could be worse. The best bullpen arms we have are Ryan Sublette, Brandon Girton, and Andrew Devine respectively.
Tadlock did throw a curve ball last week in the regional and started Chase Hampton in game 1 who has been a midweek starter, but surprisingly pitched pretty well. Dallas didn't start and was leaned on heavily in the bullpen along with Sublette. I think Tadlock knows that TTU's pitching depth just isn't there (it's always been TTU's weakness) so he got a little creative to make sure he had two solid arms in the bullpen.. I'd honestly look for the same this weekend. I can see a Hampton, Monteverde, Montgomery with Dallas out of the bullpen or a Monteverde, Dallas, Montgomery rotation... Sorry that was a bit long, just wanted to give some insight. Overall, TTU starting pitching is pretty good but there just isn't much depth in the bullpen. Looking at TTU's 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2019 trips to the CWS it's been clear to me TTU just doesn't quite have the pitching to win a natty at this point.

Check out www.stakingtheplains.com it's one of the best TTU sports blogs in my opinion. "Viva" to me has gone downhill in both content and the writers. STP is free and there are no paywalls. I don't know if they have a weekend preview up yet, but one will come and it's usually one of the most knowledgeable sites about opponents.. There are a few others like Red Raider Sports (Rivals) and 247Sports, but most content is blocked by paywalls.. That's certainly a much better description of Stanford. Of course what I want to read is a thorough description of the TTU by a Tech fan - which tends not to happen because fans reading the web site already know their own team.
That review comes primarily comes from reading the Stanford baseball web page (which is important homework) but that leaves out some developments.
Firstly, at this point Stanford has a clear #2 starting pitcher in Alex Williams. He is still coming back from surgery, so his performances have been up and down but generally better lately.
The third starter would likely be Quinn Mathews. He's been second or third starter most of the year. He has good stuff, but can lose the plate and gets into trouble with walks. Has had short starts lately, but a good relief performance in the regional final.
Grech isn't necessarily the closer anymore. His role has become long relief, which has been needed as third starters have struggled to stay in games. Not clear there is a designated closer at this point.
That review is on point for the offense. Stanford hits more for power than average - which looks to me kind of like TTU but TTU moreso.

TTU - BA 0.262, SLG 0.479, HR/gm 1.58; ERA 4.69
Stanford - BA 0.276, SLG 0.439, HR/gm 1.37; ERA 4.43

An hour and a quarter until the game. A weather station on campus reports currently 100 degrees, 24% humidity, clear skies, minimal wind. The only camera showing the sky that I could find was here (you have to refresh to get a new view).
The WeatherUnderground forecast predicts 103 (13% humidity) at 2PM CDT, 106 (9% humidity) at 4PM (to 6PM), touching 107 for a high, roughly 10MPH out of the W, no rain, cloud cover < 20%.

Not bothering the hitters at the plate. Stanford had 5 hits and up 4-0 in first inning, including Tawa HR.

It looks like our guys have cards with signs on their belts or wrists. Is this unique to Stanford? Signs for batters/runners? Pitches and defense? Are Stanford's signs particularly complicated to minimize sign-stealing? Does the team have a baseball equivalent of a David Shaw playbook?

Announcers have been pretty complimentary toward Stanford thus far. Score is 4-1 at the moment. TTU's first pitcher has a lot of talent but maybe let some emotions get to him. Have to accept the umpire's calls. Can't let it get into your head. Easier said than done.

It's a newer trend (I would say last 10-15 years), however it is definitely not unique to Stanford, as it is pretty common within the high school and youth travel baseball ranks now as well.
Typically the fielders all have one set of signs/play cards (for fielding alignments, 1st/3rd situations, adjustments by batter) and the catchers have two sets (the fielders set as well as pitch calls). The pitch calls is to minimize sign stealing, not only from 2nd but also from the other dugout, when you're giving signs from your dugout.
You could call it similar to football, but it's not quite as complicated. It's more just seeing that the #3 hitter is a pull hitter in the series prep so we are going to shade him ten feet towards left in the outfield every time he is up. Easier to make that known before the game on a play card than try to yell over the whiny TTU fans.

Exactly what I was thinking...9 run lead, 9 outs to go. Rest Beck and have him ready to close game 3 if the situation calls for it.

Let beck get out of the 7th and then put someone you trust in there. That way you can have him come back sunday if need be for 20-30 pitches.
