My hearing aids are a high end Phonak Audeo model (M-312), $3000 per ear. They have built-in Bluetooth that works well with my Android phone.

My foam earplugs are... generic foam earplugs. :-)

You listen to a lot of music?

Not so much, but I am on a lot of concalls and Zoom meetings. I can understand what people are saying a lot better with the audio going to my hearing aids with Bluetooth. It's also nice that when I get an audio notification on my phone, it doesn't disturb other people. When not using Bluetooth I have to crank those up to max volume so I don't miss noticing them.

Yeah, Bluetooth is a real plus. I assume yours have MiFi?

Amen, if you haven't tried the later models with Bluetooth, you are missing out in my opinion. Far easier to understand people on the phone and in meetings when the sound goes to the Bluetooth. For me, the Bluetooth feature lets me hear the higher frequencies far better.

#4 Nebraska @ #5 Stanford tonight at 6PM (ESPN).

Stanford may be much more experienced, with three 5th year,
one 4th year and two 3rd year starters,
but Nebraska has, by far,
the most star-studded line-up in WCVB based on HS rankings
of its players,
led by 3 freshmen in #1 overall Harper MURRAY (OH),
#4 overall Bergen REILLY (S) and #6 overall Andi JACKSON (MB).
They also have the #1 overall (S Kennedi ORR), #2 overall
(OH Lindsay KRAUSSE) and #3 overall (OH Ally BATENHORST)
recruits from 2021. as well as the #4 overall (MB Maggie MENDELSON)
and #6 overall (MB Bekka ALLICK) recruits from 2022.
On top of that, they have the #1 overall libero recruits from both
2021 (Lexi RODRIGUEZ) and 2023 (Laney CHOBOY).
Plus, they even landed one of the top transfers nationally
in 6'4 MB Merritt BEASON from Florida.

But more than anything, tonight's match and Sunday (Sept 17) @ #2 Louisville
will factor heavily in Stanford's bid to host an NCAA regional.

WOW! Nebraska is playing very loose and superbly, while
erstwhile slight favorite and much more experienced Stanford
is just playing very tense and almost like a shellshocked
underdog right now.

Well, this Nebraska team looks like the team to beat.
That floor defense (led by top liberos RODRIGUEZ and
CHOBOY) and blocking defense (led by Bekka ALLICK)
and offensive weapons everywhere!

Exceptional defense for Nebraska today.
Baird was great and Kipp was mostly solid
The middle was shaky especially on the scramble
Rubin was a disaster. Never seen her play so poorly.
And overall too many small errors for Stanford. 2 free ball overpasses. 4 net violations. Etc.

Was this a game of we played poorly or Nebraska played incredible? Probably some of both. We had many self inflicted errors and bad breaks. Still, i thought we could have had more fight and competed harder.

How will we respond at Louisville? That’s the question. We are incredibly experienced and talented and Nebraska is quite inexperienced. All the preseason hype about us was maybe a little overblown.

Give the Nebraska coaching staff credit. They had their young team well prepared. The players often anticipated where the set was going and the direction of tips and off-speed shots. In one rotation Nebraska had three freshmen in the front row. They are going to be difficult for any team to beat in the NCAA tournament.

Rubin with 11 hitting errors and 6 serving errors. A key player with such an off night makes it difficult to beat an equally matched opponent although there were plenty of areas where Stanford was outplayed. Hopefully the team learned some things from this match and will improve. IMO Stanford has to find a way for all its starters to have a reasonably good game in matches. So far there often seems to be one player who doesn't play well.

I thought Hambly might try subbing in Blyashov or Harvey late in the second set, to at least give Rubin or Baird a little rest, and mix things up. But didn't happen.

Koko Kirsch had her right foot in a walking boot, so not available to serve tonight (not that it mattered much).

I'll wait to see how the Louisville match turns out before reaching any long-term conclusions. Players on this team have said in interviews the goal is an NC or bust this year.

Does anyone believe at this point there needs to be a substantial change of some sort or is it better to keep improving the same system? I remember in 2016 Stanford was doing fairly well but did not seem to be on course to win an NC. Coach Dunning completely revamped the system. He went from two setters (Gray and Humphreys) to one setter (Gray) and changed Plummer from OPP to OH. That was a massive risk and it worked out to win Stanford's seventh NC.

On a tangent, I recall in an interview Dunning said he and Humphreys were not on speaking terms for a few days after that change. Although within a week Humphreys accepted it and became a total team player.

That was a pretty impressive young Nebraska team. Their defense was incredible which frustrated our hitters. If Nebraska is as good now, just imagine at the end of the second or the next few years. Reminded me of Plummer and co first year at Stanford. So much talent and so much potential.

Stanford made some silly errors which killed whatever very little momentum the team had. serving was not effective. Even when some Stanford players reverted to an easier serve, they were still long or short. The team lacked energy and just looked defeated for the most part. Who is their vocal leader on the court? Kipp must be dealing a lingering injury. She hasn’t played as well since Texas. Rubin struggled, probably her worst game in her young Stanford career. Those early hitting errors got to her head and it was obvious which then affected her service game. She wasn’t the fun and feisty Ruben we’ve come to love. I would have loved for Hambly to sub Ruben out and try Blyashov or Harvey. I know Vicini is more known for her blocking but she was set 6 times only. That is unacceptable and makes it easy for defenders/blockers to focus on our outside hitters.

On the bright side, Baird continues to impress me this year. She had some bad passes but she good everywhere else. She even showed fight and emotions on the court.

This team has a lot of potential but things need to improve. A national championship is still very possible. It will be interesting to see how they response agains Louisville

If I understand their terminology correctly it leads me to believe Stanford serving is not as effective as perhaps it could be. I noticed in recent games Baird and Kipp have been mixing hard serves with lollipop serves. For the most part I thought Stanford's hardest serves did not stress Nebraska's serve receive. It seemed like serve location was more of a factor than velocity of serve.

FWIW their current overall rankings have Nebraska #1 and Stanford #2.
