McCaffrey’s debut with the Niners so far has him with six caries for 39 yards and one catch for another 13 in the first half two minute warning.
Niners trailing the chiefs 14-13 but are deep in Kc territory.

Pretty ugly. Niners have to get it together fast. If they lose next week, season is in jeopardy. Those losses to Bears and Broncos are going to haunt them.
It’s going to be interesting to see what Shanahan does with McCaffrey. He played a fair amount of snaps today under the circumstances. But by next week he should be the starting running back and the featured running back. You don’t trade all that draft capital get a guy like McCaffrey and then go with running back by committee. And they don’t have the luxury of time .
I thought it was really weird when he brought in the third string rookie back to get a couple of carries in the first half. And frankly I think Deebo Samuels at running back shas run its course. In fact, they need to find a way to get him more involved as a receiver. He has essentially disappeared.
I found it a little perplexing that CMC wasn’t on the field when the 49ers were in the red zone. Which is and has been a problem for them all year.
Had their chances in the first half. But you have to score touchdowns against the Chiefs you can’t kick field goals. And you certainly can’t throw a high school QB interception at the goal line. Which is what Garoppolo did.
Plus getting torched for a 35 yard screen pass on third and 20 and a 45 yard bomb on third and 13 doesn’t say much about your so-called elite defense.
Then let’s go to the special teams. Did they get a kick off past the 20? And of course they gave up the long return to start the second half. Kansas City was getting good kick off returns consistently.
All in all they simply got the crap kicked out of them.

I've never been to a game where the home team punches itself in the nuts more often than the Niners did today. Just an absolutely atrocious lack of discipline that is the hallmark of poorly coached teams.
I know the defense was terrible, but the Chiefs gave up 450+ yards too.
Three plays in the first half:
1. Danny Gray is open on a corner route. Garoppolo waits way too long to throw and pass is broken up as defender has time to react. I put my arms up thinking it was a big play. Terrible.
2. Chiefs blitz an unblocked DB off the right side on 3rd down. Garoppolo looks at the guy and doesn't even move or try throwing the ball away. Sack creates 53 yd FG attempt, that turns into a Punt after false start.
3. After gift muffed punt following that mistake, Garoppolo throws a pick in the End Zone with a wide open Jeff Wilson.
I'm convinced Kyle Shanahan can't be OC and Head Coach. He needs to hire an Offensive Coordinator. Even Andy Reid has Eric Bienemy.
Special Teams has been awful this year, so it's not like having a dedicated coach is a panacea, but Shanahan's offense is stale this year. Can't even get Deebo Samuel the ball consistently. He only averaged 8.8 on 5 catches today.

The Niners had 7 Pro Bowl players on the field for them today, and a couple others who are close. Garoppolo sucked, but he wasn't an isolated case. Tim Ryan on the postgame said Shanahan's team was out-coached and he cited specific examples. It's not just me saying it.

Andy Reid is the best offensive coach in the NFL. So, not surprising. Still, to me it’s on the players. Two h.u.g.e. plays you didn’t mention- a 3d and 20 screen pass that went for about 35 setting up the Chiefs at the 5. And a third and 13 bomb in which the Niners shut down corner got beat by 5 yards.
Also, Bosa had a lousy game. Probably not close to 100%.
I’m not totally sold on Shanahan. But he’s got a good offensive mind. And I don’t think play calling or scheme is the issue. Not even close,
My biggest criticism of Shanahan is time management.

Yeah, well, we all know you love Trey, hate Jimmy and Shanahan.
I"m sure you realize that Jimmy was sacked, hit or scrambled on nearly 40% of his drop backs today. The D stunk, but the O line wasn't much better in pass protection . . . . .

Armstead injury has really hurt the team. Losing DJ Jones crushing. Drafting Kinlaw while injured a disaster. Givens and Ridgeway as starters scare nobody. That’s where the defensive problems start and reflect on everything else they do to get stops.

And Mahomes was 100% on third down. He is the difference. Chiefs are far and away the better team. At least they are right now.
