Her dad is ex-star linebacker Chad Greenway who played for the Vikings.
Both her parents went to Iowa which makes you wonder if she will be the next Caitlin Clark.

UCLA lands #26 Zania Socka-Nguemen, a 6'4 post out of Sidwell HS.

This in addition to their #14 ranked Kendall Dudley (also from Sidwell, same high school as Kiki Rice) and #24 ranked Avery Cain in the class of 2024. Really strong class for Cori Close and still being considered by #6, #10 and #19.

UCLA will have three players who all played at Sidwell on their roster. Geesh, having a pipeline can clearly help.

Here we go; finally something on Joyce Edwards recruitment (which has been very private)
Her last official visit is this weekend to South Carolina.  They seem like the favorite. Close to home, she has had offer from Dawn since 8th grade, knows the players/team well. LSU is mentioned: Mulkey touting she has a wining program, develops players, and gets players to the WNBA. Clemson is mentioned but slim chance that's her choice. Stanford is mentioned and our great academics and she mentioned she met Condi Rice on her visit.

She says she's looking for a program that has her major which will be environmental engineering. What schools on her list do and don't have that?
I still think South Carolina will be her choice but we will see.

RE: Class of 2024+ - Hoops9092 - 10-27-2023

Interesting comments from Joyce Edwards. At one point in her recruitment she was very heavily prioritizing academics and now that dialogue seems to have shifted to "major" when talking about where she will land. Her final 6 or 7 schools also don't reflect academic powerhouses, outside of Stanford. I, too, expect her to go to South Carolina. That list just doesn't seem to have many of the traditional top programs.

We are still in the running for 4 2024 recruits
Edwards
Mikayla Blakes (her list is narrowed to Vandy, Stanford, UCLA, Indiana)
Heckel
Peterson

I’m still thinking we have a decent chance with Blakes and Peterson

Does anyone know when Blakes visited? She posted about her recent official visits to several schools on Instagram, but no mention of Stanford.

RE: Class of 2024+ - bl82 - 11-03-2023

Someone here who has a superb track record said we should not get our hopes up for Blakes.

RE: Class of 2024+ - CompSci87 - 11-03-2023

It's exciting to be in the final 8, 4, 4, and 3 for four ranked players. But also bleak because what we need is to be the final one for one or two of them. Even if all four choose at random, the expected number of commits is slightly less than 1. (It's 0.958.)

;-)

RE: Class of 2024+ - Card10Fan - 11-03-2023

We have a new 2025 commit. Carly Amborn

RE: Class of 2024+ - kat0189 - 11-04-2023

The tone of that Joyce Edwards article is discouraging. As is that anecdote about Blakes. And unfortunately I did read somewhere (the UConn board, IIRC?) that Heckel might favor Tennessee.

Yet and still, Stanford once again has exciting possibilities next year with #2 Davidson and top CA player in the class Addie Deal. But it seems like the trend in WBB right now is building "super teams" and it's frustrating to see Stanford seem to have an all-time high in numbers of top players being academically viable but not "converting" on many of them

RE: Class of 2024+ - BobK - 11-04-2023

Carly Amborn 6-1 Guard Archie Williams HS in San Anselmo
I wonder if that was her at the volleyball game last night. I knew it wasn’t any of the 4 we were hoping for class of 2024

RE: Class of 2024+ - Hoops9092 - 11-04-2023

Marin County hasn't produced much in the way of women's basketball talent. Amborn perhaps the best since Brooke Smith came out of Marin Catholic.

Looks like the founder of the AAU team that Blakes plays on denied on twitter that Blakes had trimmed her list to the 4 schools, incl. Stanford, in the ESPN article. So she may still be considering the prior list of 6 or 7.

I’m happy to see Amborn’s commitment.  There isn’t a ton of info about her but from her videos she seems like a shooter (3-point and mid-range) with size with a good basketball IQ which is very much in the blueprint of how Tara likes to build her teams.

RE: Class of 2024+ - BobK - 11-04-2023

Carly is now at San Domenico HS in San Anselmo

RE: Class of 2024+ - BobK - 11-04-2023

On Blue Star Carly is ranked # 28.
