Boy, time flies.  There are starting to be a fair number of Berkeley grads who will have died without having gone to the Rose Bowl.

And FWIW - the UCB AD has 0 Rose Bowl game appearances over the last 30 years.

Last ןɐɔ RB appearance was 1959

Last ןɐɔ RB win was 1938

For that matter,
Last UCLA RB appearance was 1999 - which was 18 years ago.
Last UCLA RB win was 1986 - which was 31 years ago now (I hate to say).

The next round of contract negotiations might be brutal:

9% of TV subscribers are likely to cut the cord this year (it is very tempting, I watch almost no cable TV).  Some will pick ESPN over the top, but many won't.  I can almost guarantee that the next round of TV contracts will not be as lucrative as the last one.  This will hurt a lot of schools, but especially those that are carying a lot of debt and were expecting the rising tide of TV contracts to bail them out of it.

Does anyone remember (or know how to easily find out) when each of the Power 5 contracts are set to expire? The writing may be on the wall now, but I wonder if it'll be worse to expire in half a decade than right now, where the objective metrics are still pretty positive?

I think the average calfan is fatalistic about the Rose Bowl.  Here's a case in point:  On my wife's side of the family, there are Old Blues galore.  She has aunts and uncles and cousins who bleed blue and gold.  One aunt, who at one time worked part time for their women's athletics department, has even picked out a plot in the Mountain View Cemetery (off of Piedmont) because it has a view of the Campanile.
It was December of 1999 when we were over at this aunt's and uncle's house for Christmas late morning.  I was proudly looking forward to my first trip to the Rose Bowl in one week for Y2K day.  We learned that the two of them had gone to the Rose Bowl on Jan 1, 1999 with their across the street neighbors, who were Wisconsin alums.  Why did two C.al alums go to a UCLA-Wisconsin Rose Bowl?  She said it herself:  "We don't think we'll ever see C.al in the Rose Bowl."
