Quote:Judging by the crowds that have flooded The Alpine Inn, known to locals as Rossotti's or Zott's, since it reopened this summer, those fears have been dispelled. Zott's may have new floors, clean bathrooms, free WiFi and artisan wood-fired pizza, but the spirit of the place largely lives on.

The "goal was to make this the best version of Rossotti's that it's ever been," said Greg St. Claire, who was brought in by partners Lori ('81) and Deke Hunter, Jim Kohlberg, Fred ('82) and Stephanie Harman to restore The Alpine Inn to its former glory.

I dropped in after the Oregon game.  I think they succeeded in making the place better than it's been in the past thirty years.

As an undergrad I think I went to Zott's only two or three times.  I spent a lot more time at Antonio's Nuthouse or the Goose, or we'd take a quick trip to Pudley's on University Ave. when we wanted a burger and a beer.

The new beer garden is pleasant, the food is much improved, and the prices are reasonable.

I went to this event by the Stanford Historical Association last night

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Stanford82/

large crowd of ~200 people showed up.

Interesting tid-bits

- The Alpine Inn has had ~12 names over the years

- There were two Rossotti sisters, they both married Beltramo brothers, one of the sisters was at the event

- the big yellow sign the face El Camino from the Oasis was saved, the Palo Alto Historical Association has it
