RE: The Giants - Phogge - 08-04-2018

I think Q meant the top Triple A guys.

PCL was “Open Classifiction” when we were kids Bobbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb. Some players made more money playing in the PCL than they would have made in MLB.

RE: The Giants - BobK - 08-04-2018

I know just having fun with a friend.   However the PCL was above the AAA Leagues

Giants once again give up 5 in the first inning.

Giants, win two, lose two... - Phogge - 08-06-2018

A .500 year much better than ‘17.

Can contend for a wild card next year but are years away from beating the Dodgers.

Only seven months til the Masters.

RE: Giants, win two, lose two... - pefloresjr - 08-06-2018

I agree, it is definitely a .500 type of year.  Last night on the news, they said the Giants aren't out of it yet.  I scoffed, but when I checked, they are only 5 games behind the Doyers and DBags.  I don't think they have it in them, but a really good month of August would put them right in the heart of the race.  Amazing.

Cheers,
Pete F.

Are there any Dodger fans in here?

RE: Giants, win two, lose two... - Phogge - 08-06-2018

No, but the kid RJ who runs TOS is.

We hear a lot about how bare the cupboard is in the farm system.  But all of a sudden we have Rodriguez, Suarez (maybe), Hanson, Moronta, Black, Slater.  I think the issue is how long it took for them to recognize these guys could play, and how long they stuck with guys like Parker, Williamson, Ryder Jones, etc.  Not to mention some of the borderline pitchers they still have on staff.

RE: Giants, win two, lose two... - BobK - 08-06-2018

Without double checking Rodriguez, Hanson and Moronta didn’t come up thru the Giants farm system.

Well I guess that explains a lot!

Bruce Jenkins nails it - Phogge - 08-10-2018

Today’s Chron.  D Rod and Bum cruising through seven innings really needing no help but Size 8.5 Head pulls them and the Giants lose both. I know it’s modern baseball but it sucks. Strategy now includes shifting infielders and making pitching changes not in moving runners over. Generally I can’t watch more than a few innings and if the NL goes to the DH I give up.

Why is it that Panik and Belt can never play a full season? Crystal bodies.

RE: The Giants - BobK - 08-10-2018

Let’s see we scored one run in each game. My friend that's not winning baseball

I hope for the DL.  So tried that most pitchers can’t even foul a ball off

I meant AAAA.  As in the guys who are a bit too good to stay at AAA but never good enough to stick in the big leagues.  Jarrett Parker was a recent one.  Who was the spring phenom of a few years back -- forgot his name.  Williamson may yet be another.  Tim Federowicz, Orlando Calixte, maybe Ryder Jones too.  The Giants have had lots of them over the years.

RE: The Giants - lex24 - 08-12-2018

In the words of the late not so great Charlie Dressen:  “The Giants is Dead.”

Worse, they are boring. Right now my three favorite things on the Giants to watch are Bumgarner pitching, Crawford playing short and Hanson flying around the bases.

Slater is showing some promise. But I’d sure like to see some power. I think he can be a high OBP guy. What I don’t know is if he can hit 15 HRs or so. Without that, he’s never going to be more than a utility guy. Not in today’s game.

I still want an OF of Williamson Duggar and Slater. Sooner rather than later. Giants have to see if Williamson can play or if he’s a AAAA Guy. He should already be up.

BobK. I sure hope your guy Shaw stops hitting with a bat rubbed in that magic repellent from. “It Happens Every Spring”. Giants need the power. But the K numbers are absurd.

EDIT: Looked at River Cats site. Mac is back on DL. Not sure why. But I think that was one hell of a concussion. Frankly he was lucky he didn’t break his neck. That was a horrible crash.

RE: The Giants - Phogge - 08-12-2018

Take out some seats to provide a safe bullpen? HA HA.

Poor Charlie said that August 1951.  Then in October the Shot Heard Round the World.   It ain’t over till it’s over

Next year we get rid of $40M for next season.  Plus who gets a raise ?  Rodriquez and no one else I’d say.
Got to somehow get rid of the Shark at $20M

Agree Slater is a part of the future.

Shaw is a brobdingnagian disappointment

The Giants win the pennant.   And Bobbk is a fan forever

RE: The Giants - lex24 - 08-12-2018

Giants were, I believe 13 1/2 out at the time. Now if you can just find another Willie Mays....

Bobbbbb, how did the OD 1st Division patch get on that screen?

RE: The Giants - Mick - 08-13-2018

Giants are just six back.  Our very own Austin Slater is batting .295 with a .751 OPS.

Losing Jansen has killed the Dodgers.  3 straight blown saves by the bullpen in the 9th.

The Giants party like its 1951 - BobK - 08-15-2018

It was mid August 1951 with the Giants 13 1/2 our and they began their roll.   I’m jazzed by the last couple of games and sure hope it doesn’t end

Puig should be suspended 30 games

Wish we had Sal Maglie and Larry Jansen from that 51 team.
