Herbert is as good as advertised.

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - Orange Mark - 09-22-2018

Defense is getting dissected.

We're arm - tackling everyone.

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - BostonCard - 09-22-2018

Hey look, the Ducks had to call a time out to avoid a delay of game.

Not much comfort on a night they are killing us on both sides of the ball, but worth a mention.

Teams playing at different speeds. Perhaps power is passé.

As CTCard has noted, we don't run Power as much any more.

The issue is our offensive line is not nearly as good as we thought it was going to be, which is really sad because we have the players for a great line.

It seems as if all of their skill position players are faster than all of our skill position players.

Herbert is going to play on Sundays. Luck-like size and arm.

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - ADPinWDC - 09-22-2018

Cardinal sleep walking with the evening Prime Time slot.
Down 2TDs in Q2, we can't just run Power.
Throw the ball, but make the routes more complex.
Gotta get to Herbert; if he has time, they pick us apart.

I'm not sure about that (certainly not true at running back).  The big thing in my mind is that we are getting no pressure.  We have one sack, but that was a coverage sack where Herbert should have gotten rid of the ball.  Aside from that, Herbert has had a clean pocket.  And he's killed us when he's had time to throw.

One the other hand, our offensive linemen are not blocking well.  Their defense is getting upfield to disrupt Love.  On this last run by Love, the linemen were two yards into the backfield and Love had nowhere to go.

Another run by Love, another play where Oregon was in our backfield.  I haven't seen the line underperform this much since 2014.

Why are we running the ball on 1st and 10 with 10 Ducks in the box?

At least the passing game is starting to work.

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - BostonCard - 09-22-2018

Our run game is trash right now.  Basically it is going to be Costello throwing to Smith and JJ Arcega Whiteside.  For those who say we don't have speed at the skill positions, the third and long play was Arcega Whiteside beating a cornerback downfield in one on one coverage (the touchdown was just him with size).

Let the records show JJAW wasn’t even thrown to until the 2Q.

JJAW with the DUNK.

Does every first down play have to be an inside run? Is it a commandment?

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - pcgoode - 09-22-2018

My only hope on the run game right now is that we are setting them up for play action. Haven’t seen much of that this season.

Yes, it was on the 3rd tablet with commandments 11-15 that Moses dropped

We passed once.

Runs of 2, 1, -1, 0, -1 yards on first down.

One pass for 8 yards on first down.
