RE: Big Game - Austroturf - 11-25-2018

Some Big Game facts and stats:
·      The Big Game started in 1892 and was contested twice in the first year.  Stanford prevailed in the first game, while the second ended in a draw.
·      Stanford stretched its lead in the series to 10-4-4 with a win in 1908 (note: from 1906-1914, the Big Game was contested as a rugby match).
·      Cal managed to even the series in 1924 at 12-12-6 (no games were played from 1915-1918)
·      Stanford immediately regained the advantage and achieved a series lead of 20-13-8 in 1935.
·      Cal eventually clawed back to even the series again in 1952 at 23-23-9.  A tie in 1953 kept everything equal.  Finally, in 1954, Cal took its first lead in the series to go up 23-24-10.  This see-sawed back and forth with alternating Stanford (55, 57) and Cal (56, 58) victories until the pattern was broken and Cal achieved its largest lead in the series in 1960 at 25-28-10.
·      Stanford then reeled off six straight wins, retook the series lead in 1964 at 29-28-10 and has led ever since.
·      After a seven-game win streak (1995-2001), Stanford reached a historically high advantage in the series at 54-39-11 (win % 57.2).
·      The Bears then countered with seven victories over the next eight years to reduce the margin to 55-46-11.
·      The last eight games (and the longest streak in the series) have all been in Cardinal red and have extended the series lead to 63-46-11 (win % 57.1).
·      Since 1961, Stanford has dominated the series 38-18-1 (win% 68.0).
·      Go Cardinal!

Those games were gems! Precious memories.

Yes, let’s hope they win again despite the idiot that coaches this team. After all, he’s had so little success.

Throw out the records (unless there's of immense proportions disparity). Throw out the spreads.

This will be a close game (i.e., one score). I expect Stanford to come out on top because they have more potential to score 20+ than the Weenies do. I just hope ShawVitaBerry don't totally screw it up.

Good catch.  Yes, I recall those aluminum-oxide jerseys with traces of chrome in them.
