Call me cynical, but doing so on ESPN makes me think she's going to go with the Huskies, given their ties to the platform....
Another tea leaf reading exercise is whether Stanford announces its signing class before Monday. If we do, it means we know Haley won't be coming.
Well, I hope that is not correct, since we just announced the three we knew about:
https://gostanford.com/news/2018/11/13/womens-basketball-three-to-the-farm.aspx
The announcement nowhere indicates that the class is complete.
Bummer. Was really hoping for a transformational four woman class.

Not ruling that out yet, but I think we may have a transformational three woman class! When was the last time we got 1) An agile 6'5" center, 2) the best pure shooter available, and 3) a highly touted forward who can dunk--all in the same class? Sure, it will be great if we get a fourth but given that we have the #2 player coming in the following year, and given how well our freshmen are playing this year--I still think Tara can get her 3rd national championship.
This from ESPNW:
V: VanDerveer. Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer has outdone even herself with a terrific trio heading the Cardinal way. Ashten Prechtel, a 6-foot-5 post player ranked 16th, has been dubbed "Little Keith" because her game has similarities to that of Keith Van Horn, the former NBA player and her club coach. Fran Belibi, a 6-foot-1 forward and the No. 23 prospect, is best known for her viral dunks. Rounding out the class is one of our favorite names headed for an NLI this season: Hannah Jump. She's a 5-foot-11 point guard ranked 50th who has a knack for seizing the big moments.

That’s a very good three person class that should (if everything pans out) make us the favorites in the PAC-12 and put us in contention to go back to the national championship, but it’s not transformational.

Bobkk,
Just saw Boston to South Carolina. Posters on the Boneyard seem stunned as they were hoping for a double commitment from her and Jones. Surprised? I didn’t think that SC has another scholarship left after Boston, but some posters over there now wonder if Jones is going to SC.

They are more than stunned. Turning on each other, lol. How could anybody turn down UConn?

South Carolina has 13 players currently on their roster, they have 2 seniors and 2 redshirt seniors, so yes, they have an open spot.
Hopefully, we can get Jones, but if Staley gets Jones. It's South Carolina, instead of UConn which might be dominating over the next 4 years. I think if they get Haley Jones, that will be potentially the best recruiting class. 5 Top 15 recruits including 4 Top 10 recruits and 2 Top 5 recruits.
UConn's haul of Stewart, Jefferson and Tuck (three top 6 recruits) back a few years certainly and the success (4 national titles) certainly has the top spot for right now.
Even without Jones, that is still an intimidating class.

Well, I sincerely hope we get Jones. That would set up more parity in talent between the top several teams than has been seen in many years. And I have to believe that would be very good for the game of women's basketball.

Well, we know she's already made her decision. I'm hoping she's figured out that she makes any team she joins not only a FF contender but a NC contender. So from the basketball perspective, things seem somewhat equal. She would reach the top level of NCAA WBB at any of her final choices.
That leaves two other big factors: distance and academics.
Ahem.

it might help that, i believe, it's time-consuming for her parents to fly bay area to south carolina to watch her. i don't see direct flights.

Aliyah Boston, #3 recruit, shocked UCONN fans by choosing S. Carolina.
Apparently there have been 23,000 posts on the Boneyard, almost all roasting their team
and completely throwing Geno under the bus and running over him 10 times.
For those who are tired of Uconn, check it out.

The Boneyard is a great source of information on all things women's basketball. If you go, reply to the thread Non-Uconn supporters and state your support for Stanford. Right now there are only two of us.
