and HM for

- Holder
- Love
- Okereke

- Swann

Adebo was a (well-deserved) first team selection.

I was surprised that Little was a first teamer; seems like it had more to do with reputation.  In contrast, I am shocked that Smith wasn't the first team tight end.

Overall, the breakdown matches what we saw on the field.  Only one player in the first/second team on offense (Adebo), versus five (Little, Herbig, Costello, JJAW, and Smith) on offense, plus two guys on special teams (Baily and Toner).

Casey Tucker was honorable mention at ASU.  Hall was not at Stanford.

RE: All-Pac-12 - Austroturf - 12-05-2018

I wonder what Chris Petersen did to get snubbed again in the year of his 2nd Pac-12 championship.  In 2016, he lost to Mike McIntyre, who had engineered the glorious turnaround at Colorado (and fell from grace two years later).  This year, he loses to Mike Leach, who was joint-winner with Shaw in 2015.  Yes, WSU vastly exceeded expectations.  But Petersen has won two championships in three years and has yet to win the Pac-12 COTY award.  Very odd.

The AP All Conference Team, from Wilner and his pals, looks a bit different:

The two sets of all conference teams are more similar than I would have imagined.

Same QBs.

The RBs were close. On the first team they replaced the guy who had the second best yds/gm with the guy who had the fourth best - though the actual difference was small. The second team was still the lifetime achievement award.

The WRs were the same four, with a little mix first and second team. The writers swapped JJAW to first team for Shenault (Shenault had bigger stats - JJ a higher NFL profile).

TEs the same, first and second team.

Neither set chose any OL from Arizona, which might seem to have the best set of OL-related stats. [And they seem to have the best set of stats on the FootballOutsiders offensive line page, though FootballOutsiders does not have any one "best line" stat.]

The writers gave no Stanford choices along the OL. The coaches had Little first team and Herbig second team.

The DL is a little funny. The writers pick an Oregon DL for first and second team. The coaches pick an Oregon DL for first team. Not the same guys.

Apparently the writers think second team means mostly secondary as they chose four cornerbacks.

The kickers and punters were the same all around: Utah guys first team, Stanford guys second.
The UCLA and WSU punters should feel slighted.

No writers from AZ on that panel.
