Best showing of the year for us.
Right now, among the best eight teams,
Krauter has the best score at third spot.
Wang has the second best score at four,
and Liu has the best score at five.
Surprised, except that this is a very good test
and that may be exposing the chaff at there.
Another day comparable to today,
and I may call back in my bet.

The USGA used to say that the US Open set up was designed not to embarrass the best golfers in the world, but to identify them. That seems to be the case here too. The top 7 teams includes perennial contenders (all ranked in the top 7) plus the host school. The next 2 teams are the 2016 national champ and the 2017 national champ. That's a pedigree leaderboard.

What Spiny Norman said. No fluke teams in the top half.
The best team will win.
Over our final 13 holes, we were the best team in the event.
Made up seven strokes on Texas.

Unfortunately Lee double-bogeyed her last hole (9), dropping us back into a 3-way tie for third. But still an excellent first round, especially after the suboptimal start.
Maybe all the rain we've had this year will help the team tomorrow

Stanford off the 1st tee tomorrow for round 2 starting at 8:06 am central/6:06 am pacific.

Poor Arizona (tongue in cheek) just lost their drop score
on their very first hole.
Their number six posted a nine.

Of course, with this format, none of it matters too much, as long as we are in the top 8 and move on to match play. Still, the more strokes we can put between us and the 9th place team, the better.

This!!
Survive and advance. Once you hit match play, it becomes a bit more of a crap shoot.

USC minus 10 today. We are plus one. We are early though long ways to go and plus 1 just fine

One of SC's players went -6 on the front nine, two others were under par, and their drop score so far is a +1. They are really going off. But we don't need to beat them (now), just keep on playing like we we're playing. Now -1 after four birdies on 7.

She's pulled it together after that quadruple bogey start, improving to just one triple bogey, two double bogeys, and two bogeys. +13 after 13 holes. Some days you just ain't got it.

I'd be fine If USC takes the top seed if we can stay at a 2/3 seed. If we make it far enough, I'd rather play them in the championship than anything before.

There is a line of severe weather headed towards Fayetteville. From the radar, looks like it will hit in the next hour or two. It has already spawned tornadoes in Oklahoma and Texas. This is what is headed their way:
https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/live-early-morning-severe-weather-ramps-up-in-central-texas/70008309
Message on the tracker - "Afternoon coaches only, due to anticipated weather moving into the area, afternoon starting times will be delayed. Updates to follow. Morning coaches, continue play. Weather being monitored."
Edit - as of 12:15 central, play has been suspended. Stanford is in the middle of the back 9 in 6th place. Andrea Lee made a quadruple bogey 8 on the 12th. But she did birdie the next hole.

Non-immediate suspensión and Mandatory evacuation due to weather. The ladies can finish their current hole and then must proceed to the clubhouse.

Looks like it's still going to be another hour or more before the line of thunderstorms (and tornadoes) passes through

Still raining in Fayetteville. The tournament committee might want to play more today, I don't know if they can. Even after the rain stops, the course may need some maintenance to be ready for play. Weather looks clear for the next 2 days at least.
They will probably try to complete round 2 tomorrow and get started on round 3. That takes a lot of operational coordination. After the final group finishes round 2, the grounds crew will need time to set up the course for round 3 - move tees, reset the holes, rake bunkers, etc. They also have to re-pair all of the teams depending on their place after round 2.
The pace of play (5 1/2 hour rounds) certainly makes it a challenge to catch up on the schedule. The final round of stroke play is supposed to be Monday with the quarters and the semis on Tuesday and the final match on Wednesday. They may have to play semis and finals the same day.
There is no slack in the schedule. The men are supposed to play their one and only practice round at Blessings on Thursday before they start their NCAA tournament next Friday.

I don't know much about collegiate golf scheduling, but given what I know about climate change effects in 2019 coupled with the propensity for wild and sudden storms in the lower midwest as soon as the temps start hitting the 70s, it seems like folly to assume you could get through nearly two weeks of play and practice in late May without at least one day lost to inclimate weather. Am I missing something here?

Re Spiny's quote re the brutality of US Open setups.
The source of the quote, "we're not trying to embarrass the best golfers; we're trying to identify them," was USGA President Sandy Tatum, who played on Stanford's 1941 and 1942 NCAA championship golf teams, and won the individual title that final year.

I don't think you are missing anything, in fact this year there are not many places you can play without some major weather issues. Most of the West Coast is cold and wet, with rain and even snow extending east, then more rain and then thunderstorms tornadoes in some areas. Arizona and New Mexico look good. Storms are forecast to continue arriving on the West Coast for roughly another 10 days, meaning the same bad weather will continue east. Have to hope it doesn't get any worse. It is possible they may not be able to properly complete the championship.
Parts of the Cascades and Sierra Nevada are forecast to get up to two feet of snow. I hope they catch a break.

The committee does have an option that they had to use in 2017 at Rich Harvest Farms in the Chicago area. They cancelled one day of medal play for the women because they were too far behind from weather delays to catch up. The low 8 teams after 54 holes advanced to match play.
As with other sports, the schedule for the golf championships is dictated by tv. Starting in 2015, the Golf Channel has televised the men's and women's final rounds of stroke play and the 3 match play rounds. These are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday because the Golf Channel is already committed to airing pro events Thursday-Sunday.
Risk of weather delays should be lessened for the next 3 years. The men's and women's championships will be held at Grayhawk GC, a public course in Scottsdale, AZ.

One other option that I had not considered which was posited by one of the Golfweek writers who covers college golf. If the golf course is so soaked that the committee believes the only fair choice for the players is lift, clean and place, they could throw out all of the results from today and re-start round 2 tomorrow. If they continue R2 where they left off today, I do not think they can allow lift, clean and place since those were not the conditions when the round began.

Pretty sure you can't change the rules once the round begins. So either no LCR for all of round 2 or they have to restart it.
Given that half the teams haven't even teed off, I think it's more likely they will replay Round 2 starting tomorrow or shorten stroke play to 2 rounds. If they keep stroke play at 3 rounds, then they may double up matches once play gets to that stage.
