Give schedule freedom back to the schools... With where TV is headed, it’s not as big a deal as it used to be. I’d be willing to pay a little extra for a 5 PM start; charge less for later starts.
Also... I hate to say it, but part of this is just about getting people in for kickoff, and to do that, pregame needs to be improved. All of it. The piped in media stuff, the Band’s routine, everything. It needs a total re-think. People aren’t coming in for it.

and your TV is probably considerably larger than the 20" TV I had in the 80s to watch football!!! The home viewing experience is so much better than it used to be, and the actual viewing experience is much better at home (and I only have a 42" TV) than in our seats at the games.
for a significant part of our tailgate group the social aspects around the game are at least as important as the actual football game, in some ways the games are just known in advance dates we can plan around seeing each other that require little other organizing. Back in the Harris/Teevens years the games were so disheartening that we had people come to the tailgaters and not go in for the games.....let's hope we don't see games like that again....

Fitzgerald “retired” this year and the Chronicle has cut way back on college coverage.
To Stanford, donors and donations mean more than the revenue from the selling the last 10-20K seats.
Even Alabama is having problems getting students to come to and stay at games.

Stanford has one of the best business schools in the world. One would think the local talent could create an event and atmosphere that is a must attend.
Marketing? All well and good (and I say this after a 40-year marketing career) BUT ya gotta have a drop-dead, irresistible product, first and foremost, something that Stanford football is decidedly NOT today. For myriad reasons. All the university's horses and all the university's egg-headed Mensa-men (and women, hello Condie Rice) are helpless in this predicament. Suggestion: Put whatever money you're wasting on marketing to work in the recruiting effort. It certainly would not hurt.

Not necessarily advertising programs like "Next Starts Now", but make the game day whole experience something special. Market the experience. Something that attracts the casual fan and or families. Free game day tailgate BBQ with a family plan, play catch with former Stanford greats, skill games, etc. Granted it's for the Super Bowl, but the NFL has done a great job with the NFL Experience. We only have six games, so something similar could still be special and fun. . . .
One other suggestion, is to do something about the scheduling. Each year these days, we have two or three games at home before the students are even back on campus.

Yeah, come to think of it . . . they might want to move away from that after three loses in a row. At some point the "next" brings to mind "loss," as in "Next Loss Starts Now." Not a good message.

And another bloody point. Couldn't watch the game had to stream it. Just before halftime, I had to run a quick errand. In the East Bay, I could barely get 1050. Static, garbled sound, etc. GET ON A DECENT BROADCAST STATION FOR OUR GAMES.
Okay, yelling done.

Pop for Sling to get Pac-12 channels. You can suspend the subscription after football season and re-activate it next year. You can also record to a cloud DVR account. I had many errands both indoors and out today but I was able to sneak a lot of peeks at my phone in real time.

Does the East Bay not get 90.1 KZSU?
