Cal Baptist's three point shooting is hot, and we are not covering the perimeter well on the outlet passes. Cal Baptist 21 Stanford 15 after 7 minutes.
Cal Baptist 23 Stanford 21 after one quarter. CB has 4 three point shots in the quarter. We are slow getting out to the perimeter to cover them. When we lunge out there, they have taken it to the rim. Our defense is certainly suspect.
On the positive side, Fingall scored 6 in that quarter and looked pretty good. Tara took her out though. Hopefully she will come in and out and continue to be effective.

I restarted the app and I have audio now. There are announcers barely audible, drowned out by crowd noise.

A Stanford 9-0 run keyed by Fingall and Lexie make things a bit better. Stanford 39 CBU 31.
Make that a 16-2 run to finish out the half 46-33.

Cal Baptist started by shooting the lights out on their treys. They made 7 treys in the first half at 41%. They do a good job driving and dishing out to the three point line. But in the second quarter their percentage returned to something a bit more normal. They send all five back on defense after a shot--giving up on any offensive rebounds, and so each miss becomes a one-and-done.
Five minutes into the second quarter, Cal Baptist was ahead 31-30. For the last 5 minutes Stanford exploded and CBU went cold. All the Stanford scoring from this point was from layups and free throws.
Lexie with 10 and Nadia with 9 are our best offense so far. We are outrebounding 24 to 13, we are shooting 50%, but only 2/12 from three.

The 5'4" guard from Spain, Olaeta, is leading CBU with 11 points--only one trey and the rest layups after she darts through to the rim. She is taking a page from the Buffalo guard who did that to us.
Their freshman phenom Taylor Wu from Hawaii, who hit 10 treys the other night, is so far 0/3 from three point range.

About 40 Stanford fans are being treated to a defensive challenge for the Cardinal. CB has sharpshooters at almost every position that create distance, move quickly, and make three pointers that don’t touch the net. Their numbers dropped considerably in the second quarter—our defense bore down, we got into their face, and they got a bit gassed trying to guard our streaking guards and agile bigs. CB also started to foul as Stanford, with a torrent of subs, proved to be the superior team in the second quarter.
A fun gym in which to watch a game, especially when your team takes the lead.

Tara solved the CGU 2-3 zone. High-Low passes to Nadia in the paint, then Belibi. Fingall converted the first three opportunities and CGU was powerless to stop her back-to-the-basket moves. The lead stretches now to 56-38 only 2:30 in to the 3rd quarter.

Meanwhile Cal Baptist is on a 9-0 run while we can't watch.
Video came back as soon as the 3rd quarter was over. Stanford 65 CBU 58. That was a horrible end to the 3rd quarter in numerous ways.

Stanford 75 CBU 73 with a little over 4 minutes left. CBU started doubling in the paint and also started getting hot from three again. A nailbiter. They have hit 17 treys! Ugh.

Looks like we are going to pull it off, but not exactly a well oiled machine tonight. Our inability to put them away is concerning, but a win is a win.
