Green was COTY at Northwestern

Green was also an assistant at Iowa early in his career

Slovis was hurt and knocked out of game, and Fink did throw a pick 6, but still, USC shouldn’t be giving up 42 points to Iowa, let alone 49, which is the most they scored in any game this season including Middle Tennessee State.

It appears the Air Raid offense has made USC a bit soft.

Hmmm. Perhaps the reason Iowa didn't score more against power 5 opponents is the competition was decidedly better than USC?

Nebraska isn’t decidedly better than USC.

Shows you just how low expectations were for Northwestern back then.
If you won a couple of games you were a hero.

USC just fired Pendergast.  Guess giving up 49 points to Iowa was a tad much at the end of the season.  https://reignoftroy.com/2019/12/28/clancy-pendergast-removed-usc-defensive-coordinator/

I think that was after six straight 0-11 or 1-10 seasons. Denny was there for four years and went 3-8, 2-9, 2-9, 3-8. They had been to one Rose Bowl in 1948, but hadn't been to another bowl game of any kind until the 1995 Rose Bowl.

Anyone notice Bloomberg won his last three games at Rice this year after starting off 0-9?
He's probably getting a raise and an extension.

The former NY mayor? Or did you mean former Stanford OC Mike Bloomgren?

My uneducated guess, he'll have more Stanford grad transfer reinforcements once again. Rice MBA with 1 year fully paid for? Heck of a pitch.

I doubt that the first year of Rice's MBA program is a lot easier than Stanford's, and judging from experience, I can't imagine having the time commitment of football along with the first year of business school.

Maybe we should ask our Baseball grad transfer with a degree from Rice :)

Yeah I worked 20hrs/week at HP during our first year and that is definitely not something I’d want to try again. That was in the Jurassic pre-laptop age and the saving grace was that my boss’ admin (aka a secretary back in the day) helped me out by typing most of my papers for me. That was when I still knew how to write cursive, LOL.

Depends on the background of the student.   It might be hard for a non-athlete to go to business school and play football, but I am not really sure it would seem that difficult for a person that was on a Power 5 team and just navigated 3 or 4 years in the student-athlete experience.

A lot of business school is the time spent networking with current students & recent grads and various group projects.  I would imagine that playing on the football team would make it easier to find current students and recent grads willing to network.  A lot of first year students also spend time chasing down high profile internships, and that would not be a worry for a player with aspirations of getting called to an NFL camp.

Not easy, but not impossible.  And they would have more memorable interview responses for...
Tell me about a time you worked on a team...
Tell me about a time when you performed under pressure...

What business school is that?!? My first year, I worked much, much harder than any time during my undergrad years on the Farm, and I was a mechanical engineering major. The pressure was intense, too.

Guys, why are we debating this? Both Brian Chaffin AND Reagan Williams are in the process of getting their MBAs at Rice. This has already happened.

Big 10 Is considerably stronger top to bottom then the Pac-12. No comparison.
