the end of the first half and most of the 2nd half was played with 2 or 3 or 4 back-ups in. for a while we played wilson, brown, jump, prechtel and belibi. they did fine - in fact i thought that (except for a bunch of turnovers) wilson and brown played about the best i've seen them. but usc's starters outscored our reserves.

Much more enjoyable game to watch, and not just because it was an easy win. Hot early shooting and a sleepwalking USC team allowed us to build a big lead and cruise. Second half was not that exciting, and the shooting fell off, as did our defensive intensity, but not a big deal. Everyone got good minutes and the senior day festivities were great. USC did not try to pound us too much and the officials called a much tighter game than Fridays crew anyway, so if they had, probably they get called for a lot of fouls.
It's been fun to see Jenna Brown coming along. She still make the occasional mistake from inexperience, but she's been doing well overall.

I too am happy to see Jenna Brown getting more playing time and doing well. With Carrington and Jones out with injuries, she is our only guard who attacks in a one-on-one transition situation. If you watch teams like Baylor or South Carolina, their guards attack in transition and either score or force the official to make a call. Too often with the Hulls or Wilson or Williams, we will just pull the ball out and wait for the defense to set and start our offense. Sometimes that is the right move but not all the time. I do wish the Hulls would attack in transition more as they have the size (but maybe not the strength) and are good free throw shooters if fouled.

Does anyone else find this PbP guy ultra-annoying? He never shuts up. Found him that way on Friday as well.

Yes, I had to turn off the volume he was so annoying. Not only doesn't he ever shut up, he speaks constantly at a high pitch like every play is a winning last second basket. And in the Ucla game, he came across as almost rooting for the bruins. P12 should dump him, he's the worst.

He seemed to be trying to do play by play and color at the same time, regardless of having Mary Murphy there doing color. He'd obviously collected a ton of notes for the game, which is great, but he felt compelled to get them ALL in, in more detail than needed.
If he can calm down, vary his tone appropriately, and learn that less is more, he could develop into an okay announcer, but for now he's really annoying.
From a remark he made during the Anna Wilson interview, I think he may be a Stanford alum. It was something joking about wasting a Stanford education as a sports commentator.
