I wrote this back in October, and it looks like maybe it's coming to pass. This game plus the Arizona game, too. And he's just a sophomore!
Quote:I'm really excited to see if Bryce Wills can make the leap into being a productive player. He has terrific speed and athleticism, but can he keep it under control and improve his shooting? I was wondering the same thing about KZ Okpala going into last year, and he made a great leap. Wills has a lot of the same tools that Okapala did.
Wills doesn't have Okpala's outside shot yet (though he did hit his one 3-pointer yesteday), but all the other tools are there.
If Wills continues to play aggressively on offense, Stanford not only has a great chance to make the tournament, but to win a game or two in the tournament. Throughout the season, a lot of the team's long scoring droughts have been attributable to Wills being a non-factor on offense. When opposing teams have to defend him - or Delaire, who has also become more assertive offensively - the other four guys on the court get better looks.

Wills and Delaire are both extremely young - freshman age. (Tyrell Terry is older than both of them, I think.) Both very high ceiling players, and if they continue to develop they could be scary. Wills a freakish athlete with some moves and excellent defense. Delaire is a clone of KZ Okpala in terms of size and length/wingspan. You can tell something is clicking for him, and I hope it continues.
