I saw them play in San Jose when I was a kid. Ernie Banks was their guest announcer and I got his autograph. Meadowlark, Curly Neal et al were amazing, but Red Klotz was something else. He had a 3-pt shot decades before the line was created. Just looked him up on Wikipedia and apparently he last played PG for his team when he was 68 years old!

Anybody want to take a guess about the new name for the team?
Something related to government -- Federals, Americans, Presidents, Ambassadors, Generals? (Nationals and Capitals are taken, and Senators has been done.)
Something that keeps the word "Red" -- Red Wolves, Redhawks, Redtails, Red Storm?
Something more generic -- Warriors, Renegades?
These are the odds for Washington's new name:
Redwolves +150
Redtails +300
Warriors +500
Generals +600
Presidents +750
Lincolns +1000
Monuments +1000
Memorials +1200
Redhawks +1200
Kings +1400
Americans +1600
Veterans +1800
Skins +2000
Roosevelts +2200
Jeffersons +2500

The Washington Kings? Is that supposed to be ironic? Or in honor of this guy?

Looks like Washington is taking a page from the other football (soccer) and for the moment is going with Washington FT (football team).

The longer they wait, the more potential names will be snapped up by grifters attempting to capitalize on much needed change.
I'm voting for the Washington DMVs, and their mascot can be motor vehicles--a large monster truck or Lamborghini, or both in team livery. After all, you have your linemen and you have your wide receivers...

In the meantime, Seattle's new NHL team unveiled its name: The Seattle Kraken.

I wouldn't want to be the Seattle MLB team in a flag football showdown against the Kraken.

The Washington Machine.
They'll clean up with that name.

How about The Washington Swamp? Has a Robber Baron feel to it...
