Costello looks much less statue-like and more fluid without it.

OTOH the brace does provide some stability for knee.  But if you are suggesting Stanford and Shaw care more about the safety and health of their players than Leach anywhere he is, I agree. Tons of QBs wear knee braces.  For good reason.

LSU has 3 starters back.  Plus no Joe Brady. Orgeron is going to have his work cut out for him.

KJ has already thrown it 35 times. He's gonna lead the nation in yards and attempts, as the past 2 Leach QBs have.

If he stays healthy those are a given. I remember when they threw 83 times one game. LSUs offense has been awful.  (Oregeron is going to be a lot dumber this year). So MSU has had LOTS of snaps.

Plus Joe Burrow gone. :). I’m sorry

RE: K.J. and the Pirate - Austroturf - 09-26-2020

Excellent first half for KJ, despite some center mishaps.  21/36 for 292 yards.

Nearly 300 yards in a half.  Wow.  Wonder if they'll switch out the center?  He's terrible.  Osirus Mitchell is averaging more than 26 yards per catch.  And they're ahead of #6 LSU at the half 17-14.

RE: K.J. and the Pirate - SamuelMcF - 09-26-2020

I have no idea why LSU was ranked #6 after losing basically the entire national championship team AND some of the coaches.

“Costello’s now wondering why he ever went to Stanford” (announcer chuckles)

I guess we knew that was coming.

Heard that too. He looks like a different player. Also, through less than three quarters, he's thrown for more yards against LSU than anyone. Ever.

Breaking news.

Davis Mills, Jack West, and Tanner McKee have entered the portal.

CardCrimson, if you saw the same graphic that I recall, Costello has thrown now for more yards against LSU than any MSU QB ever (through 2 1/2 quarters). He might set an overall record if LSU does not cover or tackle any better than what I am watching.

Thanks for the correction. Was actually only listening as was in the other room. Misheard . . . .However, after 75 yards on the TD, he many be getting closer to the most ever. . . .

RE: K.J. and the Pirate - PVTree - 09-26-2020

At the end of 3, KJ is 27 / 46 for 470 yards. Not a great percentage, but he's going to go over 600 yards passing.

RE: K.J. and the Pirate - Phogge - 09-26-2020

All I can say is that Pirate’s offense eats up yards and Stanford’s lately has eaten something else.

RE: K.J. and the Pirate - Austroturf - 09-26-2020

Leach got greedy with that long throw on 2nd and 4.  Costello tossed a second pick, and LSU is in the endzone a couple plays later.  That's how Leach has lost games in the past.  But you have to respect his aggressiveness.  Instead of going short and steady, chewing up the clock and going up 41-24, it's now 34-31.

RE: K.J. and the Pirate - BostonCard - 09-26-2020

And Costello gets sacked and loses the ball, leading to an LSU field goal and a tie game.

You kind of have to take the bad with the good in Leach’s offense.

Costello has just broken the SEC record for most passing yards ever. 553 and counting. This is typical Leach Air Raid. WSU had 600+ yards total offense vs. Stanford last year.

RE: K.J. and the Pirate - Phogge - 09-26-2020

Wow. Davis Mills must be REALLY good.

RE: K.J. and the Pirate - PVTree - 09-26-2020

KJ for Heist-man!... Tomorrow's headline.

RE: K.J. and the Pirate - Phogge - 09-26-2020

The Pirate after the game, “Better than average.” I know you guys hate him but a sport needs a guy like this. KJ should opt out of the rest of the games. He’s a top five pick now. Don’t ruin it.

RE: K.J. and the Pirate - jonnyss - 09-26-2020

kj: 623 yards and 5 touchdowns. sec single-game record.
