Another Patriots positive. Game with Broncos postponed till next week.
Titans staff member positive. Their game vs Bills this week in jeopardy. Titans appear to be the Covid black sheep of the NFL right now.

Baseball managed Covid quite well after a rough start. I think the regional limitation helped. They also have smaller squads.
Football seems to be failing. New outbreaks every few days. Odds are good they don’t complete the season.
(Also - they should have had at least one universal bye week - to schedule make up games. Bu5 probably couldn’t cause of TV)

or they could have had an NFC bye week and an AFC bye week which would still have games for TV every week and give some flexibility in rescheduling given most of the games are intraconference

They have rescheduled a lot of games and bye weeks in order to reschedule some of the postponed games. So far they have been able to manage. They can also push back the playoffs and possibly the Super Bowl.

Patriots closed practice after a positive test today.
Colts closed practice after 4 positive tests. Later reported to be false positives.
What test are they using to get so many false positives?

This strikes me as suspicious. Unless they were all infected with a non SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus causing them to be positive, I would think the odds of 4 positive tests all being false positives seems exceedingly unlikely. Even with a low positive predictive value (say 40%), you are talking about a 2.5% chance that all four were false positives.

And what about Saban? I saw on TV today that if he gets 3 negative tests in a row, then he can coach on Saturday. Thursday, check; Friday and Saturday remain to be seen. But if the guy had it, shouldn't he be on the shelf for at least one Saturday?

MLB's return to play criteria started out being 2 negative tests. Later they added time elapsed for those that tested positive for a longer period of time.

Jaguars practice squad player tested positive. Facility now closed, but game still on for now.
Patriots had no more positives this morning so their game is also still on.

Their presumption after 3 negatives is that the Wednesday test was a false positive.
Interesting that his positive was the same day the Alabama AD tested positive.

The numbers I found behind the testing that the PAC-12 announced they were employing was that 100% of the positive tests were true cases. Of the true cases, 13% resulted in false negatives.
Hmmm... why don't they require two or three negatives (no positives at all) to play, and one positive stops you from playing for the 10 days recommended by the CDC?
Are they using a different test? Or do they in an alternate universe where statistics work differently according to your FB ranking and payroll?
But, IF their testing has, say, a 1% false positive rate, and a 13% false negative rate, then 3 negatives are better evidence than 1 positive. (If 13% chance of a false negative, 3 negatives suggests a 0.2% chance of a false negative)
I don't know too much about the testing procedure, but if you did nasal irrigation before a nasal swab, would you dramatically reduce the chance of a positive test? Not that any college athlete or coach would ever cheat on a test just before a big game....
"Nasal irrigation is a personal hygiene practice in which the nasal cavity is washed to flush out mucus and debris from the nose and sinuses, in order to enhance nasal breathing."
I see that they tested Saban at the same time every morning before the day got going. You think he took care of his personal hygiene just before taking the tests?
Boy, I sure hope none of his family or staff or any of his supporters recently bought the nasal irrigation products or else someone might be suspicious of their purpose. Imagine checking the sales numbers of those products....

This is kind of the worst case scenario for a football team vis-a-vis Covid. The Raiders are scheduled to play the Bucs on Sunday Night Football.

No additional positive tests. I believe they're expected to play Sunday.
Saints receiver Emmanuel Sanders has been put on the Covid list. He practiced on Thursday. Haven't heard about any close contact quarantines so guessing their game is still on target.

Texans and and Giants each had a player test positive this week. Vikings placed one of their players on the Covid list (either tested positive or close contact).
Texans have a bye.
Giants closed their facility today. Haven't heard any additional info about the Vikings.

Broncos OL coach was place on the covid list yesterday. A Broncos OL tested positive today.
A Vikings linebacker also has a positive test.
Both teams will need 2 days of clean tests to still play.

Oh my, lots of Covid cases in the past couple days in the NFL. =(
Elway and the CEO of the Broncos have tested positive.
Wisconsin football (university and pros) has not been immune with one of the Packers RB's testing positive and another of their RBs deemed a close contact. With their leading RB doubtful, fantasy leaguers may want to look at the Packers' practice squad for a flier. =)
