RE: Stanford Women's Volleyball - Softball Fan - 12-01-2020
I agree volleyball would not be permitted. Front row players on opposing teams are often within the 6 foot social distancing range.
I heard yesterday all the counties in the San Francisco area are looking into following the policy set by Santa Clara. Also the Governor is warning about much harsher restrictions in the near future.
If Hambly has plans to move forward with the spring season he should look for a venue outside the state for home games and practice. My guess that would not be in the WVB budget.

WVB is scheduled to start practice about
January 18. Certainly moving must be y now but there is time.

Ok I stand corrected a bit. Palo Alto pointed out to me the first game (we hope) is January 22
So practice would begin about Jan 2

I've lost the thread where we had these, but here's getting to know Malia Tufuga

Hambly must have seen something he liked in her. She wasn't recruited by any top 25 team. When she announced her commitment to Stanford on social media, most of the comments from friends and family were along the lines, "Don't let anyone tell you that you aren't good enough to be on the team". I was a little surprised by the tone of the comments.

Malia is a walk on. Her brother plays or has played on our MVB team

Off topic but an article I found interesting: The struggle of a HBCU to attract high skill level minority volleyball recruits.

I could see them being able to attract a very competitive team. Like most programs throughout the country success involves building the youth programs nearby. The DC area is arguably the best area for developing Men & Women Basketball elite talent. Introducing them to volleyball will probably yield a strong pipeline over time.

Another player. Hope she is healthy. Saw a photo no clue how recent but poped up yesterday looked like wrap on one leg.
RE: Stanford Women's Volleyball - Softball Fan - 12-22-2020
Your link is to Leilah Smith who had knee surgery two months ago. If she is the one with the wrap, I would view that as positive news. Someone else, not good news.
I'm uncertain if there will be a spring season so not going to get my hopes up about volleyball. I'm not even clear what Hambly's plan is for practice in early January.

I meant another Stanford volleyball player as in Leilah. Yes Leilah with the wrap.
You sure just two months ago and if so how serious ?

Greene had committed to Princeton just a month ago. Looking for more info
Ranked #22 on the class. A setter will be out 4th setter in the fall of 2021
RE: Stanford Women's Volleyball - Softball Fan - 12-23-2020
It would be interesting to hear her reason for choosing the Stanford program. Barring injury she will be warming the bench behind Miner for four years.
RE: Stanford Women's Volleyball -
BobK - 12-23-2020
Or behind Xu. Both Xu abd Miner ranked # 5 in their classes
No to 6-1 no to 5-2 it’s the first 4-3

That's a bold new idea. Will Hambly try it? Maybe even
a 3-4 with Tufuga as the fourth setter.
