BS Lex. Kids have been sold a bill that says you will either be asymptomatic or hardly affected. What did kids do after Dec 7? Many enlisted. So now you have to sacrifice a year for your fellow man or woman by following protocols. Boo hoo. Many of those enlistees sacrificed much more.

Is that true for teams that play a full or nearly full season, like most of the SEC?  That's got to have a ripple effect in recruiting for the next few years...?

Not 2021 they won’t count but the following year seems so

That’s not a bill of goods, it’s true. There is little to no impact on those under 25.  And again, do you have proof that those playing football are getting Covid at a higher rate than those in their age group that are not? I haven’t seen any such study

Phogge -  I said from the beginning that I didn’t think they should play this year. But they did and if they were going to, I don’t think they should cancel games because they are “shorthanded“. That’s all I’m saying .

It's like you all want to be Dean Wormer:  "No more fun of any kind!" (for anyone).

And not just college. High School and Club too. Kids want to compete.

And I want to have Thanksgiving with my parents, but to do so would be irresponsible.  Hell, I've been hoping to have a chance to go back to the office, but alas that's not happening until next spring at the earliest.

There's a limited amount of things "we" can do while keeping the virus under control (and by under control, I mean, R < 1).  Unfortunately, R is currently > 1, so we are already doing too many activities, so caseloads are high and rising.  So, we can chose to curtail activities now or wait until cases start to overwhelm hospitals, at which point more drastic measures will be needed.  The whole point is to try to avoid a second lockdown.

BC

SCC says that on the current path hospitals will max out in 3 weeks.

Correct.  All players regardless of whether they play one game or twelve (or don’t play at all) will receive one additional year of eligibility.  Players who otherwise would have exhausted their eligibility this year will be allowed to return next year; however, schools are not obligated to give those individuals scholarships to cover the additional season.  The maximum of 85 will be increased by the number of players who choose to return who, once again, otherwise would have exhausted their eligibility this year.  The number will revert back to 85 for the ‘22 season.  Obviously, this will cause a “traffic jam” in 2022.

RE: WSU game reportedly cancelled - BobK - 11-21-2020

Keep in mind we are talking fall winter sports. Spring sports got the extra year this past spring. Many at Stanford Have athletes who played four years now will play their extra year

RE: WSU game reportedly cancelled - Phogge - 11-21-2020

Big question. Can Stanford win the spring game?

Sunday, no. Big Game is next Friday. That's too quick a turnaround.

4-0 SJSU would beat the absolute living tar out of 0-2 Stanford.

BTW, we're in the Top 10 of the ratings.  The Bottom 25, that is.  We're #9.

We shall see . . . I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.
[BTW, non-Covid patients still comprise the vast majority of beds and cases for them are rising, too.  Just a reminder for those reading, for example, today's Merc, which omitted those facts].

The evening news mentioned at the end of the same story regarding max capacity at SCC hospitals, which I presume was also ommited by the Merc, that San Mateo, Alameda and Contra Costa Counties don't share the concerns with SCC regarding capacity.

Unless they enter the transfer portal like most of last year's 5th-year seniors did
