Would not be surprised if FDA waited for their US trial data, which they still have not fully recruited IIRC. But all vaccine candidates will need to act fast, otherwise Moderna and Pfizer might vaccinate all the high risk subgroups they'd want/need in their trials!

More not-so-fast information on AstraZeneca's vaccine.  In fact, one investment house said it would never pass muster in the U.S.A.  Their stock price actually dropped on the news.
