So Susan King Borchardt isn’t capable lol

Super early I know, but with her size and the way she moves, Brink reminds me of Anthony Davis.  She handles the ball at times like a guard, and is pretty fast relatively speaking.  She's been playing a real dominate sequence since checking in again.

CP having trouble making a basket in second quarter.

Brink has some moves.  You can see the future potential. Pretchel looks much stronger and mature than Brink.

Jones is so smooth in handling the ball.  I see why she was so highly ranked as a prep player.

Everybody but Jerome and nnopu in game, minor injuries?

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Cal Poly 11am today - BobK - 11-25-2020

Susan was Brink’s trainer in HS and before the players could report

Love Brink That second quarter was awesome

Basically everybody on Stanford's roster who played in 1H looked good and contributed in some way.
Wow, is this team deep.
Should be a fun season (fingers crossed) to be a Stanford fan.

P.S.  Van Gytenbeek also looks legit/not scared.

Cal Poly is overmatched.  We are looking like the #2 team in the country playing an overmatched team.  You can't draw too many conclusions about a half like this, but it does nothing to contradict the idea that we have a really good team!

Q2 thoughts:
Cam settled in and started having fun. Great sequence where she got a backcourt steal and nearly went coast to coast with a nice dish at the end.
Forgot to mention that Fran looks much more comfortable and capable with the ball. She had a Sportscenter top 10 play in which she jumped out of bounds to save a ball under the offensive basket and whipped a cross-court pass to Lexie for a three right in rhythm. Spectacular.
Jana got some minutes toward the end of the quarter and picked up her first of many assists to Cam.
As a team, I'm not sure I remember so much uptempo attacking every in the Tara era. We looks like a WNBA offense at times.
The talent and athleticism is staggering.
That said, there have been a bunch of defensive lapses and Tara will have a lot of raw material to coach with here.
Cal Poly is a better team than I expected and well coached. They have a couple of very good players, but our talent 1-10 is more than I think I've ever seen at Stanford.
Awaiting the debut of Agnes in the second half.

Live stats are currently up to date
  http://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=317478

But its score (48) is different than I saw on the live feed at half (51)
Oh, they are updating stats as I watch during the half. Their time & plays show they are at the half but ...

Agreed with all of this.

Can definitely see what everyone is excited about

Brink looks so agile.  Makes Prechtel look slow in comparison

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Cal Poly 11am today - Griffins78 - 11-25-2020

I really like Prechtel. Would like to see Brink  be a little more aggressive and assertive.

OK - Brink is playing more aggressively

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Cal Poly 11am today - bl82 - 11-25-2020

Q3 thoughts:
Agnes Emma-Nnopu showing quickness and desire to crash the boards. Seems like a tweener in terms of skill set, but when her perimeter game improves, she could be a strong contributor.
Jana flashing some nice passing skills, including a beautiful lead to Hannah on the break for a layup.
Strange to see Jerome enter the game for the first time in the third quarter. Presumably no injury issues. I prefer not to speculate, but this timing has a whiff of something like a team violation.
Cam continuing to look comfortable.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Cal Poly 11am today - Softball Fan - 11-25-2020

Hard to believe this game started out 16-14.   It reminds  me a little of watching WVB where there is often a talent imbalance.

Stanford's test will be against a team playing aggressive, physical defense.  That has caused problems in the past for the Cardinal.

This 4th quarter lineup with the three freshmen plus Jump and Prechtel has been awesome.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Cal Poly 11am today - BobK - 11-25-2020

Great announcers once again. Really love this pair

Can you tell Joaquin to pronounce Belibi correctly please? Otherwise, I’m good.

Yeah, CP didn't really offer much physicality on defense and the height mismatch was pretty glaring.

I kind of feel that Jerome may have just been surpassed in talent, to be honest.  The sophomores all like like they were very solid, and Tara has said so a few times this year.  And then Brink looks great.  So, I just think Jerome perhaps dropped down the pecking order a bit.  I think the others who played more are just a bit more dynamic.
