COVID continues to strike. Dr. Cody has been doing one of the best jobs in the country of improving the safety of the county for which she is responsible. Of counties with > 1M people, SCC has the fewest cases per capita and 3rd fewest deaths per capita.
Teejers, obviously you know you are being derisive. How would you like it if I had responded "Dear Kibitizer strikes again"? You can offer all the opinions you want. No one's life or livelihood depends upon your opinions, so no matter what they are, you never have to deal with the consequences of them.
It is reasonable to disagree or to question, but being derisive cheapens your input and reflects upon the whole board.

I wonder if Stanford would look into the possibility of playing at Haas Pavilion like how Cal played a home game at Stanford when the fires were happening and air quality was bad.

The Order isn't published yet, but as I read the Press Release, the orders are for the athletic teams in the county, not for their facilities. I would believe that means that practicing & playing contact sports anywhere by those teams is prohibited. The Mercury News article makes it sound like it is where the contact sports take place, contrary to how I read the press release.
If the location of the contact matters, then Stanford football could fly to Washington, play there, and stay there until at least Dec. 21 to avoid a 14-day quarantine upon return to Santa Clara County.

The order is effective Monday through Dec. 21. I would expect it to continue past that, but we shall see.
I presume that without practices, the 3 away games during that time are cancelled as well (at Cal, at LA schools).
For WBB, that's 7 games cancelled. Next game after 12/21 would be Jan 1.

Cal is within the 150 mile range, so that probably would be OK. Assuming the restrictions don't become more restrictive.

The LA schools are going to have other problems since LA county is already issuing a Shelter in Place. Have to believe they will not have a similar set of COVID related restriction challenges over the next few days.

I wouldn't believe any university in Santa Clara County will believe that going to Alameda or San Mateo county will solve their challenges.
Returning to the county forces a quarantine if you interacted with those outside the 150 mile bubble, so the students would need to stay in that alternate location for the duration, not just for games. And it seems so likely that the SF Bay Area and CA's coastal counties will have similar restrictions soon since the problems with cases are actually much worse in other CA counties.
Europe acted faster when they saw a similar trend at the start of their fall weather, and now it appears they were too slow. Since the USA was slower to react and has no national plan, it likely will be a bleak 8-16 weeks for the USA.
Schools could relocate sports operations to Nevada which is somewhat similar to what schools from El Paso and New Mexico did a few weeks ago.
Or
Schools could play other schools in our little 9 county bubble (until restrictions get even tighter).
Doubt they will whine and complain as complaining about playing college sports while people are dying is not a good look.

Yeah, remote learning is certainly as meaningful and good as in-person classes. I mean, what are finals to a class (or the college experience) anyway?
I suspect many teachers/professors are finding the pandemic beneficial, from a purely work POV.

Per Bob, Fall quarter ended before Thanksgiving, so from academic purposes, I withdraw my argument. It would be hard to argue that any athletic activity will be damaging to academics now that school is no longer in session.
