Good news is both Palisch and Williams had appearances today; Palisch his first, Williams his second on the season.
Palisch pitched a strong inning in the seventh.
Williams finished the disastrous fifth, had trouble finding the strike zone.
Frustrated they didn't send Brueser home on Robinson's double in the ninth.

Unfortunately, Bru missed third base rounding the bag.
This was a brutal loss; a giveaway for sure. The team will learn from this setback.

Stanford baseball is taking on Cal at 6:05 pm today (Tuesday). Stanford is providing the live stream.
The pitching still needs to improve. The team ERA is 4.58. The only saving grace is that our opponents' ERA is 7.04. But we haven't faced our toughest competition, including Arizona, Oregon, Arizona State, Oregon State, and even UCLA, although I'm sure preseason expectations were much higher amongst Bruins fans.
Cal is 16-10 overall and 4-2 in conference. They've won series versus Utah and USC. Our conference series wins are versus Utah and WSU.
Beat Cal!

Ucla is this weekend Encouraging that Williams and Palisch have now pitched.

Thanks for noting the return of Williams and Palisch, BobK. I didn't mean to imply that Stanford's pitching woes were doomed to remain, and I am hopeful that the situation will improve just in time for our tougher opponents.
Apparently, the NCAA still uses RPI for baseball, and Stanford is sitting at #31. Cal is #148.

UCLA might allow spectators at home sporting events beginning April 10. Would love to catch the away games that weekend.

Palisch pitched his second outing last night. I thought his stuff looked okay, but he had trouble finding the strike zone. Something like Williams in his second start. Palisch gave up two hits, but wasn't hit hard - a Texas Leaguer and a pitifully slow roller that took so long to get to the short stop there was no play. But, he gave up three walks, threw 30 pitches to get two outs, allowed 2 runs.
I hadn't noticed that Bru missed the bag rounding third, that certainly would explain why he wouldn't go home. The play is on the highlight video of the game on Pac12 Networks. At about the 1:00 minute mark. It's hard to see his foot definitively, but his reaction seems telling.

Game two with UCLA, 6-0 good guys, bottom of the first with one out. Fun game so far. UCLA coach Savage was thrown out when Bowser launched a 3-run homer after getting a questioned ball on an 0-2 count. Too bad I couldn't hear the exchanges with the ump.

Stanford with its own baseball Killer B's!
And we clinch the series. Let's get the sweep tomorrow (against UCLA's #1 pitcher).

*Sigh* Not a good day so far for Stanford athletics. 0-4, top of the eight, UCLA on the verge of blowing the game open. Their starter has been mowing us down.
