But importantly, we won the season series (all home games) against Cal. So the committee will treat it
as a series win, even if they were technically "non-league" games.
We moved up to #42 in RPI prior to today's game after OSU series.
Some of this depends on how our competition on the bubble plays, but I think we are in a good position.
Among our bubble competition, we have by far the most wins against RPI Top 100 competition, and best record
against Top 25 competition.
The only reason we are even this close to the bubble, as opposed to closer to Top 25 where our Massey rating is,
is because we have some sub 200 RPI losses that we probably wouldn't have if we weren't as limited in who we played
early in the season.
How well do we have to do in the next 8 games to make the NCAA? 8 games against two of the top 5 teams by most ratings. Will 2 - 6 do it or do we need more like 4 - 4?

In all honestly 0-8 could do it. But sure hope we win some

As this weekend's action is showing, picking at least a game or two off UW at home would be
easier than beating UCLA, and probably the greatest softball player in the world (professional
or amateur) right now.
Alana did go toe-to-toe with Rachel Garcia, but Garcia at the plate and in the circle just a little
too much.
We did get the benefit of some other bubble teams struggling this weekend (South Carolina
got swept, and now must win one in the SEC tournament to avoid losing record and
likely being out of consideration (though technically losing record teams would be considered this
year, however unlikely). Minnesota has also lost 3 in a row against Michigan, while
Kansas has lost 3 in a row against Iowa State.
Finally, Stanford benefitted from Oregon State notching a win against Arizona State, so all
three wins over the Beavs are RPI Top 50 wins (important criteria for at large selections).
We are still #42 in RPI after the midweek, and loss on Friday (will have to see positioning
after two losses to Bruins today).
I agree with Bob's take, picking one off UW, and getting that significant 30th win on the season,
would take some of the pressure off Selection Sunday.

Big win just now! Stanford beat UW 4-1 in game 1 of a DH. Vawter threw a 4 hitter. Spirakis (grad transfer from Santa Clara) provided very important insurance runs with a 2 run HR in the bottom of the 6th after UW had pulled within a run. It was great to hear so much noise and enthusiasm in the stadium.

Congratulations to Alana on her biggest victory to date in a season full of big wins. Stanford (without angering the woofing gods)
will be in the NCAA tourney after this win.

It gets even better in second half of doubleheader. Cardinal all over
UW 7-0 heading to T4. Stanford's pitching depth getting better of
UW's.

Well Bob, if there were any doubts about jinxing, surely
we won't jinx it now. Honestly, we are making the case for
a #2 regional seed, particularly if we could win the series
tomorrow.
At min, a split with the Dawgs is a fantastic result.

She was crying on the telecast. Wonder if, sadly,
that means she won't be returning for a fifth year.
It would be great if she did.

A win tomorrow would bring us back to .500 in conference (a conference that includes the #2, #5, #8, #11, and #12 teams), and unfortunately, one of the few unranked teams we play against got cancelled.
