RE: Week 7 other games - BostonCard - 10-16-2021

Apparently Someone threw a golf ball at Lane Kiffin in the Tennesse - Ole Miss game.  I guess Tennessee fans are still chafed that he left them to go coach USC.

BC

It’s been all Utah so far in the second half; they just tied it.

Not sure we stack up well at all against Utah.

BC

Looks like some NW PAC-12 team’s next QB is playing at Eastern Washington.  26/35 for 600 (not a typo) yards and 7 touchdowns.

RE: Week 7 other games - BostonCard - 10-16-2021

ASU’s game against Utah ended just as Stanford’s against WSU… with the QB running for his life.  Take of two halves, and the second one belonged to Utah.

Sometimes it seems Pac teams compete against each other to see who can have the most disappointing season (UW the clear front runner in that race).

USC is got to be in the running.  Maybe Cal as well.  Not sure expectations were that high, but they are 1-5 now.  And of course, I think we may be headed towards a disappointing season for many.  I was thinking 5-7 preseason, which we have a good chance of, but 4-8 is not out of the question.

I was thinking 6-6, maybe a little better if everything fell into place. Now that looks like a bit of a wet dream. Utah and ND look highly doubtful, but maybe we win one or two of the other three.
Also, if misery loves company in terms have having regressed in the last few years, we have it in Washington, who made the CFP in 2016. The Seattle paper is concluding, well, maybe the cold hard truth in the matter is that we just aren't very good. Maybe we should call our next game with Washington the has-been bowl.

RE: Week 7 other games - BostonCard - 10-17-2021

Ed Orgeron just got tarmac’s after an upset win against Florida.  Never mind that the dude won LSU a national title a mere two years ago.  Tough business.

Wow, that is brutal.

Quote:LSU and coach Ed Orgeron, 60, have reached a separation agreement that will result in Orgeron not returning to coach the Tigers following the 2021 season, according to Sports Illustrated's Ross Dellenger. Orgeron, who won a national championship at LSU in 2019, is expected to finish the remainder of the season as the team's coach.

While this development comes less than 24 hours after the Tigers upset Florida 49-42 at Tiger Stadium, Dellenger reports that the move had been in the works since last week's loss to Kentucky. Orgeron is expected to receive his entire $17 million buyout, according to The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.

Reading about him in "Meat Market", he did sound like a guy who could be tough to deal with.

Maybe not so brutal since he apparently gets all of his 17m buyout.

From a financial perspective, that is correct.  I was thinking more about what it must feel like to defeat the #20 team in the nation and get fired for it.  But then, apparently all of this was settled well in advance.

Orgeron is apparently quite a creep.  He hit on a high-ranking official's wife (who was pregnant, BTW), and has had girlfriends at LSU practices, disrupting same.

Report: Ed Orgeron hit on pregnant wife of LSU official (msn.com)

RE: Week 7 other games - Phogge - 10-18-2021

I guess it may be the South but the guy doesn't look quite like George Clooney. I would love to see pics of his girlfriends.

I say a plague on both their houses. LSU leaking this after he is let go rather than dismissing him for his inappropriate actions at the time they happened says it all. Like the article says, its ok when the coach is winning, and an excuse to let him go when he is not.

I wasn't paying much attention about his dismissal at the end of the season until the story re:  hitting on a married, pregnant woman surfaced.  I then saw a mention of photos of him in bed with a woman not his wife.  I had to wonder, what in the hell? How does this get public?  Phogge, to answer your request, here it is:

Discreet is not Coach O's middle name.

Now I'm really confused about the reasons SC didn't think he was a match.  Is the accent that big of a problem L.A.?

Cheers,
