25-19, 19-25, 25-19, 25-19 was the final. By no means did we dismantle OSU, but we outhit them .313 to .206.

Kipp show in 3rd and 4th. Noticed each time she rotated out Kipp sat on the bench next to Courney - wasn't standing with subs. And appeared Courtney was making sure she hydrated

Kipp(#3, USA Junior National Team)
Baird (#2, USA Junior National Team)
Miner (#4, USA Team Captain for U20 World Championship)
Vicini (#10)
Francis (#5)

Add in:
Oglivie (3 time Gatorade State Player of the Year and USA U20 team)
Campbell (USA Youth National Team, Starter for two National DI College Championships)

I'm pretty sure OSU has no player in the top 50 senior aces and probably none in the top 100.

Now that I look at this I'm starting to think the problem is the coach.

WSU was down at home 0-2 against ASU before rallying to win in a reverse sweep.

I was stunned by WSU MB Magda JEHLAROVA's stat line: 21-0-25 for .840. What was that ?!?

This match clearly shows us that KIPP is this team's MVP. Her hitting, hitting efficiency, and blocking were sorely misses in those 3 losses to Arizona, ASU and Oregon.

Moving forward, the focus of this team is to regroup and continue to get better from where they left off before the recent spate of injuries. Right now, they are 8-6 in-conference, 13-9 overall. Without any more injuries or downtime from their starting group, I think they can win 4 of their remaining 6 PAC 12 matches (at home vs. WSU and on the road vs. Colorado, Cal and USC) to finish 12-8 in-conference, 18-11 overall, and qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Then, hopefully, they can do some damage in December.

I think the problem is not the coach, but the obvious ones: Players have been in and out with injuries and illness. Even when all the current starters can go, there aren't enough backups to make a full scout team for practice. Some starters are freshmen, while the others pretty much missed a year of development in last year's COVID plus injury disaster. Despite all that the team has been pretty good when the current starters are all playing.

I agree:

(1) Had OGLIVIE not been concussed, Stanford would have easily won over UCLA in straight sets in their only meeting. They were already up 2-0 (sets) and leading in the 3rd set when confusion set in due to OGLIVIE's sudden absence for the remainder of the match.

(2) In their PAC 12 1st meeting, Stanford was leading Oregon 2-1 (sets), and ahead 8-7 in the 4th set when FRANCIS had to be suddenly replaced by TUFUGA due to a suspected sprained ankle. This somehow stifled the momentum of Stanford resulting in Oregon outscoring them 8-4 before FRANCIS came back in, with Stanford trailing 12-15. Stanford was able to tie it up at 23-all before Oregon finished it off to win the 4th, 25-23. Again, another match that could have easily gone Stanford's way had it not been for the disruption in Stanford's offense due to a momentary injury to FRANCIS.

(3) And, of course, the unfortunate injuries to KIPP, MINER and LOUGEAY that resulted in losses to Arizona, ASU and Oregon.

Oh, well. Life goes on, and hope for the best (as I always do)....

Stanford RPI at #30. That's a little better than I expected. It's hard to predict a teams movement in the RPI list unless you have access to the actual RPI percentage. 1/100 of a point could separate two teams or six teams.

Cal is at #252.

At this point, of course, we’re on a collision course to meet UW and WSU. I’m just hoping we send some shock waves through their fans… :-)

I agree. No #1 regional seed is going to be happy playing Stanford in the second round. There is always a chance the Cardinal come out of a deep funk to put together a high level game they are capable of playing.
